black business = poor service

i have been diligently using black business and services.
i must say that at everyone of these stores customer service is poor to non existent. the service people are rude and incompetent.
why is it that black people working in a white owned business give decent service while black people working at a black owned store do not?
as someone who is making an effort to spend his money with blacks i find this really discouraging.

I can't speak for Philly, but I have been to many black-owned establishments that give good service. I have been to many that don't as well.

We have a black-owned chain of cafeterias here in Raleigh that I would bet most white patrons don't know that they are eating in a black-owned establishment. The food is good, the facility is clean and nicely decorated, and the service is good. They have the same combination of black and Hispanic workers that you find at the white-owned cafeterias.

The black-owned bank, on the other hand has the worst tellers that I have found anywhere.

I agree with you Philly. I think that this is part of the reason black folks can't wait to move out of our neighborhoods. I have to say majority of my experiences have been negative to the point I wanted to choke the clerk and manager. I did have some good experiences in Augusta, GA though.

Actually, let me clarify my experiences. The stores that offer more conscious products like the black bookstores and the stores that sale scents and oils have great service. The establishments that sale clothes or black owned restaurants have the worst service, especially the restaurants.

@James
I wish to commend you on your committment to black owned businesses. That is the first step. The fact that you keep returning indicates that you have also passed step 2 which is having a high tolerance level for black businesses and their litany of problems. the third 3 step is taking your concerns and the fact that your reason for supporting is due to love of for US) directly to the owner/manager in an attempt to correct the situation.

The conscoius ones among us must adopt the mindset that anyone after interacting with us must conform the way they treat those coming after us. This is both positive and negative.

once again brother i commend you

Gladys Knight and Ron Winans Chicken & Waffles gives great service if you are ever in Atlanta, GA! Also, we are rolling out with a company with great options for Independent Contractors and Stock Options, Customer Service is A#1, without it you have no customers.

(Speaking primarily to those shops that offer hours from 12pm - 4pm in the afternoon.)

It may be as simple as taking Economics and Management courses... but you have to ask, are they going to do it?

And I STILL haven't found Tyler Perry yet... my reason for happening upon Afrochat...

well, While I'm here :.)

getting good service starts with the owner. They do the hiring and firing. If you hire people and don't train them to give good customer service then you do't need to have a store or make money. The owner sets the tone for his company wheather it's a book store or a waffle house.
I hate to go to so of the fast food places because of poor service in the black community. If the people working there don't treat me right I don't go back.
