You got that right. That's the crux of the problem in some parts of Africa & West Indies now ( cash crossing corrupt hands and divide and conqure taking place).

People are afraid of us because of ignorance, plain and simple. I work for a university and there is nothing worse than an old, white, underexposed PHd. I'm originally from Los Angeles where more classism than racism exists. Just one hour east of the city and you are in the rural south, or so it seems. I have had people look at me with pure hate in their eyes obviously because I am black. Most recently, I was asked to represent my department at a small meeting of five people, 4 women and 1 man. After the meeting was over, the facilitator, a white man and director of another department, allowed all of the other women to walk out as he waited, like the patient gentleman. When I approached the doorway, he looked at me, hesitated slightly, and then walked out in front of me. I wanted to kick him in his narrow ***. I have learned to have a thick skin with regards to how I am received by people because a lot of people say that I have a "serious and intimidating" look. I try and remain mindful that sometimes it may have nothing to do with race, it could be that a person is having a bad day or maybe they are afriad because I'm not bouncing off of the walls with glee. But there is a limit to the maddness. There are some people who are just ignorant and evil. They do exist and we come across them on the daily. It is what it is and we are not "reading into it" or overly sensitive the majority of the time.

I live in Riverside, CALIFORNIA. If you take a look at my comment I said that there is more classism than racism in LOS ANGELES as opposed to what you will find in smaller cities, like the one that I currently live in, within that same state...CALIFORNIA...and I stand by that statement.
Before you take this comment and run with it, let me state, for the record, that I am by no means saying that it is ALL GOOD for black people in LA because racism is alive and well everywhere in America--just take a look at the Rodney King, LA riot situation or the current crop of LAPD officers who invade our neighborhoods. My point was that a lack of exposure breeds ignorance.
BTW....I don't even like oreos...or camping.

whatever they see on Tv or hear about us thats what they will think of us from racist and prejudice family members. It's always that way. They think watching Boyz In The Hood, or Menace II Society that all black people are like that in real life

Sistergirl, you're rambling so much with deception that you forget what you said and get tongue tied Lawd Have Mercy on His & Hers Soul. I know that we both know a common link that has celebrated his 50th Birthday and is bored but must you both take this web anonymity thing that far by stating fiction, continuing to build current multiple on-line aliases and living vicariously through others via the web with through lies and deception . Please Sistergirl , both you and your friend need to give it a rest b/c your gig is up. Because everybody in the industry and out will be watching if some other aliaes pop out from the blue all a sudden so supportive. And that's All I have to say. Peace unto you.

@jewels0479......i defintely understand what you saying. i too have lived in los angeles and i have experience classism attitude. and to those that don't know, it means that people who live by the systematic oppression of subordinated classes of people by the dominant class. It includes individual attitudes and behaviors, ... beit black and most people of color.

madam i was born in riverside (a satellite metro of l.a.) and have lived in southern california for much of my life. classism does play a dominant role here (we do have the"Industry" here) probably more so than racism - well let me clarify that: you don't see most of the racism that takes place here because racism/racists is/are looked down on, so you have to be sneaky about it, keep it under the radar.
