Young person

How come old people are quick to think that PopRap(tv and radio music) is the same thing as HipHop(black culture). HipHop is way different than that PopRap crap you hear on tv and the radio.

Here is the real deal on whats HipHop = Dead Prez, Public Enemy, KRS1, Little Brother, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Slum Village, Goodie Mob, Outkast, Black Market Militia, Nas, etc.

This is PopRap= Paul Wall(ignorant white boy thug), Slim Thug, Fifty Cent, Ja Rule, Tony Yayo, and the rest of that crap that comes on BET, MTV, MTV2, VH1, and the local radio stations. Thats the difference when it comes to HipHop and PopRap. So don't get upset at us HipHoppas get upset at those PopRappas who think that they are thugs, gangstas and pimps.

what is non sense is my talking to a young brother in the tower record store and finding that he had never listened to John Coltrane.
he barely knew the name.

BTW - he styled himself as a musician.

You'll make a mistake if you assume all young people are like that.

the thread starter made a mistake...

1. when he/she(?) doesn't identify just who is an old folk;
2. still hasn't named one piece performed by the declared "real" hiphop reps. 3. doesn't say what is HipHop?

Names of a performer or group of performers do not always reflect who they b. I admit to b n old w/o shame and am familiar with some of your favorites. To me HipHop, whatever it is, is no different from any other aspect of life... more of y'all need to

I dont know who John is considering i am only 15 years young

but i will say that it is so sad that my younger generation thinks that this poprap as u call it is real rap

because it is so fabricated everyone loves it..............

It's like cubic zerconia(Spelling??) diamond

Looks or sounds pretty, but it is fake or has no depth

Aside from the rythm what do these dummies have to offer

Unfoutunely there love aint in the rap so now it comes off as being

I just which my 21/22 centry bros and sis's would wake up and realize how wankstish(as 50 would say) the music industry is today

makes me wanna

Wink Old folks and Rap

Would you consider a baby boomer old folks? I have a 20 yr old son so I do know the difference. I listened to his music during grammer school-high school. I wanted to know what thay were saying on these cds. In return he had to here my stuff. Now he got more of my kind of music than I do. We have expanded each others taste of music. He said Coltrain was to heavy for him so he listens to light jazz and so blues. I in turn love my oldies and neo soul, which by the way needs another name. So I have heard the stuff on mtvand bet but I like the underground music played on the radio here in chicago. So please remeber not all old folks can be lumped together. As Leela James puts it. where has all the music gone. Where are all of the true artist.

The true artists are the ones who you never hear on the radio. Like KRS1, Chuck D, Dead Prez, Black Market Militia, Little Brother and Mathematics.
