I'm not trying to change your opinion of gays but what most people don't realize is that some of the people you conversate with everyday are gay and you know nothing about it. How would you treat that situation?

It would make me extremely uncomfortable. That much I know for sure. If I did decide to continue a relationship with this person I would have to make it known that I am not to discuss or be privy to any homosexual information. I don't want to know details of their "love" life or anything like that. And if that person thought that I was being unreasonable then we'd just have to agree to part ways because somethings aren't up for compromise.

Beautiful and Ran I understand exactly what you guys are saying. But what if the friend was aware of how you viewed gays and it was for that reason they didn't tell you? I ask this because alot of people just say I can't stand gays or I hate them, etc. But what if their cousin or brother or someone close to them comes out and says their gay. Would they be treated the same way as a gay person on the street? I take an interest when people talk about gays because my cousing was killed by some guys who didn't like gays.I've always been taught to see people for who they are, not what they are ( not saying than anyone hasn't been taught that as well)

The truth is that I don't want to know. If you're gay keep that info to yourself. If you just gotta say something then be prepared to deal with the consequences, which may be that I don't have anything to do with you. And that goes for friend, cousin, or sibling. I don't have a problem seeing people for who they are and to me being homosexual is a part of who you are. It's a perversion and it's not something I wish to be privy to. Like I said before I may be inclined to continue a relationship with a homosexual as long they respected my right to not have to hear anything homosexual related. Of course I understand that being gay isn't the everything in a person's life, but it's one of those things as a person I don't wish to be around. Now again I say I ain't for beating up or harrassing anyone who is homosexual because we all fall short of the Glory of God, but I would just be very uncomfortable being around that.

We don't have to agree with each other's life style but to each his/her own. We just need to respect each other.

Stand Tall DBlack
The most incidious Black vs Black crimes have been commited against our minds, first by yt and now more 'n more by so called Blacks. Who see no evil; speak no evil; hear no evil.
Everything's cool... don't worry be happy. Each to his or her own; what the hell, nothings related.

Let's lay our cards on the table.....
What happened to that person....was to be **EXPECTED**
And I mean **HE HAD IT *****COMIN'!!!!!** *****
The homosexual lifestyle is *TOTALLY AGAINST WORD OF GOD AND THE HOLY SCRIPTURES!*
So, the person got what was to be *EXPECTED* and *DESERVED* because of his **UNNATURAL, ABNORMAL, ABHORRENT, PERVERT LIFESTYLE..**
And, remember, even if there *WASN'T* a fight that took place...there's *ALWAYS* the threat of **AIDS** to fear....
He shouldn't "keep things like his lifestyle to himself"...he should **REPENT AND TURN AWAY FROM LIVING IN SIN!**
**SISTA JOSIE HAS ******SPOKEN!!!!!!****** **

Ditto a thousand times, DBlack. I would be considerate enough that if I were to witness a beatdown to borrow someone's cell phone a few blocks later and dial 911.

I didn't see the article at the link. Who termed it "Hate Crime: Gay Bashing?" And how is it known that one of the bruthas is a "Crip?"
The NY Daily News has a long record of being the leader in instigating sensationalist headlines. In those 4 words it assumed role of prosecutor, grand jury, and possibly a Judge.
It could just as well be titled: How to Corrupt Youths' Morals!!! Which is also a crime

I've read all the posts here, and I've given this some thought...remember that Brother James Baldwin was openly gay...and talented, and precious to many of us...so were/are countless other important Black folk. As I see it, bigotry is bigotry---whether it is directed at a person's color, religion or personal life-style.
Offended by someone who is gay? THEN JUST WALK AWAY.
Peace.
PS: Let me be clear that I am not thrilled with some aspects of behavior in the gay community...but I am not thrilled with some aspects of behavior in the straight community either. I am personally straight and always will be. But I believe in basic human dignity. And I know I may catch Hell from some of you for my opinion here...not a problem.
Still love you, my People.

Some things in here totally disgusted me, mainly the people who say he deserved to be hurt but will turn around and mention God in the same breath! How about analyze how that totally does not go hand in hand. In that case we all should be hospitalized. You don't have to agree with their lifestyle but in no way is it right to hurt them or condemn b/c none of us have the right. If you have premarital sex or ever had u need to be beat, you lie...beat, steal...beat... the content of that mans heart could be better than some of you who responded.
