Why? Because at least I can empathize with the religious fanatic and am able to on some level understand why they are being so obnoxious. And at least, kind of like what Lonewolf said, one can find their comments amusing on some level.
But seeing numerous posts and comments from a fool who is not only belligerent but seems to take pleasure in making hurtful comments towards others (e.g. black women) is both deeply annoying and depressing. It's one thing to be just mean or just stupid but when you put both together you get a really dangerous combination--I like to think that with a lot of patience and kindness someone may be able to have an intelligent discussion with a religious fanatic about something, but with a rude fool , in most cases it seems like a totally lost cause.

I understand where you are coming from, but this post is riddled with more personal insults and attacks than I've seen anyone ever make on this board, which by these words, certainly makes you no better than those who are the object of your opinion.
You are more guilty here than the individual you are flaming, are you not?
Just something to think about.
In closing, I would like to add that if a mass of residents have an issue with another resident, a petition can be formed to remove or temporarily ban that resident. The other way is of course to report residents to staff. Except for extraordinary circumstances, residents are sanctioned based on a vote by all the staff, not by one staff member.
People have the right to have opinions, but no one has the right to go around directly insulting or attacking other residents. these acts (not the individual) are counter-productive and divisive.

I was not insulting Mr. Bronx, I said what I said in jest.
My advice to you Mr. Bronx is that if you don't like what is going on in the religion Forum, then don't go in there; but, if you have to, maybe you can put some of that duck tape over your ears or eyes? :LolLolLol
If it appears that I was insulting Mr. Bronx, well Mr. Bronx I apologise.

I was specifically referring to the post by thinkslow, although I hope that everyone takes it to heart the message of my reply.
It's really OK to disagree....really!

Were dedicated to the call of Jesus Christ.
Some say fanatics, but everyone else is franatical about one thing or another, the video chicks are dedicated to shaking the bootys, and drug pushers are fanatical about selling and killing people. So why not be fanatical about the creator and the mighty works he's done for me.
This is just me,I don't debate over the word of God,I just try to do live the best Christian life I can.

respectfully, as defined here, I'm not fanatical about anything. And in my bible, there's not mention or endorsement of fanaticism whatsoever.
I beleive Mr.Bronx was speaking of an individual that uses every chance they can to push an agenda. I do agree that that kind of behavior is fanatic and extremist. I am also curious as well, after reading this thread further, as asked in the beginning "What does fanaticism serve?" I would love to read responses to this, as it forces everyone to take a more objective look at the topic.

I guess on some level, some people feel they are following a calling to evangelism, "Go Preach my Gospel," forgetting that Jesus never invaded people's every movement, spouting references to shaving and such.
