DBlack u make a point needing emphasis. Concerning ourselves about a legal and political status "Minority" or to keep complaining about what others are doing while it is not get'n any better for us economically nor politically is sheer madness. A distinction btween the new n.i.gg.a.s and us is: an Embassy, maybe even a Consulate and or a businessmen/women's assn. Even w/o local political backing, which is seldom, they can amass money strong arming tactics. They upon coming here don't see themselves as we've been brainwashed into thinking as a diverse minority. Later when the buck starts to roll in as it will, not for all, but more and faster than it has for us, then they too become not a monolith. Man that sounds so sophisticated! Huh?
You're not the first, nor will I be the last to SCREAM: Black Folk! Lets get OUR s..t to gether........... right now!!! You are not a minority; you've been told that; the press sells it and you've bought it.
Right in our own neighborhoods we can start. If we live among mostly white folk, no problema; many of us do. Get with your family; do like I do; (no I do not live among white people), if u don't mind the suggestion, ea month all of us in Atlanta attend a family dinner and bleeve it we do more than eat. That's another way to initiate moves to better financial positions.

[quote=Baba Ahmed]Continue to develop unity with self; for in my understanding of being a Pan Afrikanist, with an Afrikan Centered World View, its not about exclusion per se; its simply about being concerned with Afrikan needs first.
I recall an answer to my question asked Malcolm X: What do we call Puerto Ricans* - this was in Harlem? He: your bruthas and sistas. Yet the OAAU (Organization of African American Unity) was as I remember, 99.9% Afrikans.
*Baba note: they were/are classed as white by the U.S. Census Bureau.NOTE]
Firstly, props to the Writer of this commentary. When I read the sentence where the instructor "reminded" blacks that they would be discriminated against during their lifetime, I had to chuckle at that one. WHAT planet did he or she fall off of? Since blacks were kidnapped and taken to this land, we have experienced ongoing bigotry and racism---and this negative mindset is not just from white people. It is a fact. Hispanics are the fastest-growing ethnic group in the U.S. And if you are up on the game, you will see the divisive tactics that this government has systemically implemented.
Baba, you are correct and a given racial group may check the box marked "white" on a given census, but should also be mindful of the sub-heading that is attached as well: "Minority." I'd give just thought to a GOVERNMENT that gives the dictum of classifying it's citizens as either "white" or "minority." Doesn't THAT in itself, illustrate separatism?
The more you know.... :whistling

Keep in mind that from a govern(u)men(t) everything's political. So the term minority has political and economical relevance. Our Chief Justice (of the Indigenous African American Reparations organization) explains one reason we will file for "Indigenous" status is to "legally" qualify as self-determinants among other remedies in capturing our reparations; and to be not included with homos, women's rights groups; gay rights groups, the Klu Klux Klan, etc kwk etc as minorities are today, legally.
I see no wrong in separations; I see wrong in a government b n unjust and to abuse its powers against a separated peoples. In this "Land of the Free..." And yes the divide and conquer tactics serve misnamed white supremacy well. Its sad to me for self professed Mulattos to allow themselves to be played outta pocket to see themselves different from other darker peoples. That's exactly one intent in most of them b n "created." To serve as a buffer btween ruling authorities and us. Period. One movie in particular makes this clear as a Fall Season's Blue Moon: SANKOFA!
One of y'all might wanna post at the mulatto site something I put here re "Whitening" specifically in Brazilian policy and here by default.

Well brother, with all due respect, I can both agree and disagree with some of what you have stated--and that is okay. :)
Again, I would give just thought (and we can discuss this more in detail later) in pondering if there is a "just democracy," when in fact that democracy is governed and continually supported by fractions and separatism---you KNOW the drill. So, referencing and supporting what you have stated, blacks MUST be self-determinating. And I would even state that forms of separatism and fractions are omni-present in the black diaspora as well e.g. circles in politics, civic and community circles and so forth with the American dollar presiding (witrh altruism and morality making grand exits at this point...lol).
No other ethnic group in this land has received the brunt force of racism more than blacks. Following that are Hispanics, Native Americans and believe it or not, women. This nation continues to be plagued by too much discrimination in our daily lives. Not directed towards you Baba, but Amerikka has the gall to tell blacks to "get over it" and move on. However, her tactics illustrate and have proven that Amerikka has never liked anything darker than herself. And prior to the dissension with Iraq, WHAT ethnic group do you think held down the front row...lol? So, to the Iraq's, I would state to them sardonically, "welcome to the front row." Consistently, and with racist propaganda, Amerikka has systemically tried to curtail the progress of the indigenous people in this land. For my millions of brothers and sistas, as the saying goes, "Amerikka crippled a race of people and now wants to blame them for the manner in which they walk? I think NOT. I have YET to see Amerikka APOLOGIZE to the African-Americans in this land. Sure, by way of apology, America has compensated the Jews, Japanese, etc. and the Halocaust, for example, did not even occur on american soil. So, on that note, in my opinion, if any of the indigenouos african people in this land are eyeing reparations as "payment," do not hold your breath for the issue will end up on a ballot FIRST.
I think that one solution in helping American bridge its racial divide would be open, honest and what might be painful conversations across racial, political, ethnic and gender lines. Then perhaps a "color-blind" society may become a reality one day.
Baba, and all be well. :)

Likewise Samoon - whenever I hear the word minority, my mind b calculating or rather estimating, wonder how much buck that's worth to gov't?
Understand Samoon, American top officials refuse to "apologize," because they know that is the term to open wide doors of Reparations. Its an int'l courts' term used to lay basis for Reparations; however at this point in our struggles, its almost a moot term, because a UN body has ruled the Atlantic Slave Trade to be a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. This was ruled before the WCAR (World Conference Against Racism) was held just prior to 9/11. And as said b4, attached, so to speak, to the ruling are remedies; e.g. rights to self-determination, repatriations to our original homelands, restitutions - meaning funds to cover costs for various "reparations," and so forth. Ghana has taken the lead in recognizing our demands by opening up useful lands to us and others who qualify per the UN's definitions of various classes of "victims." Ghana also has opened a Free Trade Zone to us that includes some 1,000 products and merchandise for us to buy free of customs' duties, taxes. And we can export to them free of duties. During the recent GHANA Expo2004 many investment opportunities were offered. That sounds similiar to a "Favorite Nation" status. Which partly means that, like Israel, import/export duties are not charged to a Favorite Nation.
Generally we are ignorant of investment opportunities for us in Afrika. The universities and major media seem to be partnas in keeping us diverted from even considering possibilities for investments. I know One further note, lets not get caught in a quagmire of who was harmed worst by America's treatments. That's diversionary and divisive. Each of those named have been and are harmed by this gov't's political, economical and educational and justice system with one eye peeking through just enuf to jam us and appear just to yts.
The Japanese of WWII and the Native "Americans" are simply precedents to be referred to and cited when there is a need to. We care less otherwise. No; its better I say I care less. I can and do not speak for the Indigenous African American Reparations Tribunal. And re NDNs, I've already reported that some of the 5 Civilized Nations have joined our nat'l/int'l teleconferences. The Black NDNs I think are commited to work with us. Soon the conferences will continue after a pause for some sistas and bruthas to visit the lands, set aside for us, and make finalize arrangements for our folk to formally claim lands ready for us. Our first is as reported earlier a 4 sq mile area, enuf space for lots of 1/4 to 1 acre lots as we aim to settle approximately 20,000 repatriates in Accra, Ghana. Near a fishing village, I'm told. And assume is near the Gulf of Guinea.
Oh also remember this does not call for anyone to give up their citizenship status in America. Its not an automatic deal. U must declare it; unless a person joins Ghana's military, which I do not think is even in the works. However there are discussions, I'm told re dual citizenships for us. And do not think this is outlandish or radical. Zionist Israelites there and avowed Zionists and non Zionist Jews here have been do n it since I know the 1960's. Probably even before.
So lets put doubt under our heels and if we desire to take part in and opportunities for partial self determination its open to be done.
Peace!
Kwame
