He sold out his South African people, for the economic interests of White Europeans, which is Why he was so successful. King, so far as I can see is the only successful "black leader" that did not necessarily sell out. And maybe Malcolm X, if you consider his influence as apart of his success, since he really didn't get any legislation passed. Now True South African Heroes ? Read the books of Steven Biko.... Much deeper Philosophy than Nelson Mandela. He eventually got tired and begin doing the bidding of the White Liberals, which in turn is doing work for white conservatives, because they all answer to the same corporations.
And I MUST SAY, I was SHOCKED to see this brother spending his 90th Birthday with the Queen Of England ??????? WTF is ALL I could think. That crown is so EVil ! It doesn't matter what anyone says, if it wasn't for people fighting ALL OVER THE WORLD for their freedom, that B**(*7 would still be profiting off others oppression to this day. And they still do, just in a more covert way. So for him to be in cohorts with the English is highly suspicious !

I have. Mandela and Biko fought the same war against the same enemy. What do you hope to gain by painting them as adversaries?

I am taking my own advice. Go back and re-read my posts in this thread. I am the one stressing that no one should fault either one of them for the breakup of their marriage. It is you, and others, who are sitting in judgement by focusing on the sins of one, while ignoring the sins of the other.
What should matter to you is_why_ Mandela spent a third of his life in prison. It was not for being a Uncle Tom. It is sad, and another indication of how badly black America has lost its way, that so many of us now think of Nelson Mandela as a bad person.
and this is what confuses me.. why the mandela would be an uncle tom and how his personal business would be an issue.
We have become quite efficient of late at bad-mouthing the accomplishments of some of our greatest leaders --- Mandela, King, and Gandhi. If they didn't or don't talk about white people as being some kind of devils or lower forms of life, we now think they are Uncle Toms.
what we need to understand is they have made ways and open doors for those to enter and what ever these folks did on their private time is their business not ours.
If Nelson Mandela was the man that you prefer to think of him as, he could easily have trashed Winnie in his autobiography. Yet, there is not one word in it that is anything other than complimentary of his ex-wife.
exactly, if he wanted us to know how he really felt he would've said so. apparently he'll take it to his grave.
Anyone who wants to know who the real Nelson Mandela was and is should go to their local library and check out a copy of "Long Walk To Freedom".
islota quoted......
While her husband was in prison, Winnie had at least one affair that Nelson knew about. No one can judge her for that because 27 years is a long time for a sista to do without. But, after 27 years of being apart, and other bed partners becoming involved, you also can't judge her husband for choosing to move on as well.
i'm agreeing with islota. there is no need for debating on this. he's human and so is she. whatever decison was made it was made between them. case closed.

Okay lets say THEIR personal life is no ones business. Then why bring it UP to try to prove your point? If it serves NO purpous what so ever then why bring up what Winnie did? Winnie Mandela wasn't just sitting around those 27 years getting screwed. Why try to tarnish her?
Please direct me to the passage in any of my posts where I said Nelson Mandela was THIS or THAT. I didn't give an opinion on him one way or the other. I just pointed out how your points were not convincing
And that WE business "We have become quite efficient of late at bad-mouthing the accomplishments of some of our greatest leaders --- Mandela, King, and Gandhi. If they didn't or don't talk about white people as being some kind of devils or lower forms of life, we now think they are Uncle Toms."
was nothing more than YOU making a sweeping generalization

And how did GANDHI become one of OUR leaders? There is research that Gandhi harbored ANTI-Black views when he lived in South Africa

I was disappointed that Naomi Campbell (yeah we all know this sista's crazeeeeeee) was dismissed as a presenter becuase of all her foolishness but Amy Whinehouse was allowed to be present and entertain ..when she clearly needs to be sitting her tail in rehab somewhere. I would like an explanation for that!

I still stand by my issues with him and they are just that MY issues. He has every right to divorce Winnie. I heard about the affair but if that is the reason then he is not respected in my eyes. My reasons are sorely based on the fact that he has forgiven the white colonizers for there brutal murders of millions of south afrikans, he has forgiven them for wrongly imprisoning him for 27 years, he happily became a puppet president because lets face it. The whites still control the south afrikan diamond mines.
But I can't overstand forgiven them and not Winnie.
But who's to say he hasn't. I would love to hear him say that.
