Business Frustrations
Okay a little background, I work in the A/V field for a company and we mainly do mostly corporate meetings and things of that nature. The company I work for is 1 of the many sponsers of a minority business organization and since the organization is mainly non profit they don't have a big budget for A/V for their big events they have every year. Since the liason(sp) from my company to the minority org. is a black woman she trys to push for more support from our company so 1 of the things she did was donate my A/V department for free for their events. This past weekend they had their biggest event of the year it's 3 days of meetings and whatnot.
Frustrations: - Too many hands in the pot trying to stir. There was no less than 10 different people that were telling me to do 10 different things 10 different ways. No communication and then when the show starts they expect things to go smoothly. - Not being prepared. The show has already started and people are walking in with DVD's that need to be shown and I have no way of testing it because the meeting has started. In this case the DVD wouldn't play in any equipment I had and after the meeting come to find out the disk was blank, nothing on it. It's hard to deal with all of this and still be professional and put on a smooth show consistantly. I mean every day for every show these 2 things happened. It's a shame because it was all black people and 1 of the guys has such a big ego and he's a a@shole that I can see him ruining future opportunities for black businesses because of the way he carries himself. |

I've been doing this job for almost 10 years now. It's not the job it's the people and from dealing with that organization I realised that sometimes as bad as my situation is there are worse situations out there and no matter where you go there will be people that are hard to work with. I actually love the fact that the sister working here is pushing for the company to give more support for the organization and donating our A/V department is cool it's just they need to organize the shows better.
