Fears and Phobias

What are you afraid of? Do you consider your fear to be a phobia? Does your fear have a direct affect on your life? Let's talk it out.

I never knew just how many phobias actually exist. I went to The Phobia List and whew, people are afraid of many different things.

I don't know if my worst fear classifies as a phobia, but I am rediculously afraid of mice. I would rather be in a room with 10 pit bulls then one mouse. If I see one, I experience a 360 personality, mood and mindstate change. I'm talking about tears and all. My fear has had a drastic effect on my life causing me to move. After seeing a mouse on my bed, yes my bed, I immediately left (after freaking out of course), went to a hotel and stayed there until I found another place to live. Imagine that...starting over completely to be mouse free. BTW, it wasnt just one mouse in the house. The HS football stadium had been renovated causing a sudden influx of mice if the homes in the vacinity and enough was too much for me. Sad however true.

Back On Topic I Dont Think I Have A Phobia (as Yet;)) But I Hate Those Flying Cockroaches. Ohhhhhhhh, I Just Hate Those Things. But Please Believe I Would Run But I Will Come Back With A Broom Or Something And Make Sure That Sucker Is Dead!

I am extremely claustrophobic!
I hate small spaces. I used to freak out if I became confined in a small space,
but I've learned to just breathe and relax....that'll last for about 90 seconds before
I start flippin out though.

I acknowledged that there are many things that people are afraid of, but when I looked at that list....SMH. Im not very fond of bugs at all, with the exception of lady bugs and maybe an occassional ant or two. I dont think Ive ever seen a flying roach though...I can just imagine...go straight into skitz mode!

With that being more common, you probably arent subjected to the riddicule that comes along with having a fear that people cant relate to. I usually get laughed at when I mention how afraid of mice I am, but that doesnt bother me. What I dont tolerate is the person who likes to play around with me and act like they just saw a mouse and things of that immature nature. Keepin' it real, no matter where we are or who's around if someone decides to play on my fears, I lay down the law and let them know just what type of physical danger theyre putting themselves in. Im not a violent person at all but thats where I draw the line and ish gets serious.

It's good to know that you try the 90 second thing, thats a long time when it comes to maintaining composure. As for myself...aint happnin cap'n. Immediate skitz/spaz mode-no exceptions.

Flying - it started way before 9/11 but I don't like to fly.

Heights - I noticed that its intensified as I've gotten older.

Anything happening to my kids.

Anuptaphobia- Fear of staying single
Lilapsophobia- Fear of tornadoes and hurricanes
Im terrified of Maggots and have Wiccaphobia...

Now Moe17, I didnt mean to laugh but I was good until I got to the maggots...Im not laughing at you-I'm laughing because I can relate to that big time! That's one of the weird things about me-I laugh at almost everything and when I scared, oh man...out of control! On some real ish, I have to admit-I too suffer from this anuptaphobia. Also, I fear being walked out on due to things that happened to me when I was little. I wonder if there's a phobia for that?!

Seems as if your fears are pretty
reasonable, for a lack of a better word. So, are you saying that you've never flewn before or was your experience enough for you to decide that flying wasnt for you?
