Are Black People Afraid To Talk About Aids?
I Was Wondering We As Blacks Can Talk About Everything Else, like What Makes A Person, Or What A Person Drives.. Etc..but Why When Someone Make A Thread About Aids, We Dont Post As Much? Is It Something We Hate To Mention?

As much as most hate to admit it; in the black community AIDS is still taboo. It's deadly consequences are ever increasing. Having spent a considerable amount of time in maximum security male prisons, I have attempted to educate many on the subject of HIV/AIDS transmission and treatment. It's still falling on deaf ears. Whatever it's going to take to change our perception of AIDS education, one never knows....

It depends. I think more so some people in the black community may see it as a thing of it not happening to them. Where I'm at, all you see are advertisements for getting tested and they all have black faces shown. I think the more it is talked about.....the better for those who are ignorant to how bad it affects us.

the silence of aids is killing millions of blacks each year, and the black community isnt doing any better. ALL i see on television is SEX,SEX,SEX and not enough conferences about the issues that's killing us. We as blacks will talk about who has the biggest booty or who's good in bed before we will speak about the error of our ways. the more we're silent the worse it will get.

"Are Black People Afraid To Talk About Aids?"
From the hospital setting to the super-market I am not afraid to broach this subject or, discuss fully with anyone how this disease is killing in record numbers. Having a long stint in the clinical/hospital setting in Hematology/Oncology including AIDS/HIV prevention and healthcare, unfortunately I have witnessed the demise of many. The bottom line is that as Black people? We cannot afford to "sleep on this one." This is a horrible disease and the morbidity stats are continually growing.
"Buckle, up Studs and Studettes." All, be well.

so very true....we need to more responsible as, parents we discuss sex education with our children and need to bring awareness of AIDS into those discussions. The U.K has one of the highest rates of teens having children in Europe, that alone is an issue ...but also shows alongside that the amount risk that must be occuring. Its worrying, because we live in a society that i think is very promiscuous and commitment is like a swear word it doesnt help.

thats a good question, I think its taboo number one, but also we get enough coded messages on how we are more prone to diseases in mass media that some of us in some sense get tired of it, but it should be highly discussed and it should also be a discussion as to why its more prominent amongst our people

I'm not afraid to talk about this epidemic that is approaching our people and killing them in the process I think more should be done about this HIV/Aids I think this is a big issue that needs to be discussed more and go into depth about this because so many African Americans are getting this disease because they are not being protective when having sex and their spouse is not telling them that oh I have HIV and I got it from someone else and now you have contracted the disease yes this needs to be discuseed

for example ... when BET was hosting a show about AIDS in the black community, People seemed to be taking it lightly, like going by poolsides, and practicing putting a condom on bananas im like wtf, AIDS isnt meant to be taken lightly. I wish someday BET have a real Discussion like they did on the State on Hiphop, people just sitting down, and talk about what's really hurting black america and africa.
