Have You Had to Cuss Anybody About Imus?

I swear I almost had a fight at work about the Imus flap. I'm so sick of hearing yt thinking that gangsta rap excuses what Imus said and that Sharpton and Jackson are responsible for the racial divide in this country. Everytime some black/white issue comes up the pointy little hoods come out. I swear, I was 2 seconds from taking my earrings off at work the other day when this white woman told me that if black people would respect themselves people like Imus wouldn't make the comments that they do. They are so ignorant it's difficult to argue with them because no matter what you say they can't, OR WON'T, get it.

Precisely. It's the equivalent of arguing with brick wall.

Of course, all of you are right. I just get so frustrated. And you know, at the bottom of it I think my feelings are hurt because I just don't understand the hatred. I think it's too irrational for me to perceive. I always like to think that when human beings are involved, at the root of it all there is goodness and redemption. But frankly, sometimes dealing with white folks makes me feel hopeless.

I can understand and appreciate your frustration. Just realize that either some people are ignorant and stuck on stupid while others say things to yank your chain and get a rise out of you. Don't take the bait, take the high road instead.

maaan..i got so frustrated about this subject at my job...whew...i was about to have a fit. my white coworker was saying 'oh i don't think he meant only the black girls....my hair is nappy when i wake up in the morning'. i'm like come on now, are you really expecting me to believe that? it was kind of funny actually....cause she looked so sincere. so clueless. my black asst. manager and i tried to explain it to our colleagues, but soon realized it was fruitless. i already have gotten one racist white man fired for saying innappropriate racist jokes at work, so i guess they are all scared of me now...lol.
