Angry....
Today I am somewhat on fire, funny now as I think about it I think I have a clue as to which Orisa the energy may come from, Anyway my 10yr old daughter in the 4th grade is already and having problems, school has not even been back in for 2 weeks and already she is having problems. Well I aint mad at her, she has forgotten a couple reading assignments or perhaps just didn't remeber or comprehend what she read. But the teacher is riding her, What makes it worse her mother is riding her. Now my daugher is walking around in fear and trepidation, when there is no reason. She always gets A's and is always on the honor roll, Ok so she missed a couple assignments. We live in a three bedroom apt, with 7 children and 2 adults, duh a little stress a little crowded give her a break. But here is the kiker for me. We all want our children to get an education, But all they are getting is a eurocentric view of the world. This makes me sick. I am thinking of homeschooling. Sure they need math science reading etc. but they need to know about them not everyone else. DO you want to know how much our black children know about us? dress as I do many time I dress in traditional clothing, the young teens laugh, the little children ask me question like, Are you Jamaican, no I am not Jamaican I am African as you are. Are you a muslim no I am not a muslim I am a black man dressing in traditional clothing. This is how much our children know about our culture(s) either you gotta be Jamaican, Muslim, A Black Hebrew, Never African

The black here in America is at somewhat of a disadvantage that you haven’t been. The effects of slavery has been devastating to the black that were born here. Bringing us over here, against our will has resulted in a loss of culture, a loss of self-identity, and a loss of cultural pride.
The effects of slavery has been upheld and nourished in the educational system since I was a child and before then, and is perpetuated in the way our kids are taught. You will have some blacks say that slavery was long ago and we need to stop yelling it. But it still needs to be yelled.
In another thread I said that our people were under a multi-pronged attack and we are, education is one of them. The history of slavery as taught in schools is often distorted or incomplete b\c the person teaching it is detached and lacks the understanding of it.
I run into a lot of young people who really don’t understand that part of our history because it has not been properly taught in the schools, and until our kids are taught their history and have it put into the proper perspective, we will continue to have a problem. It is only a matter of us regaining our pride; pride in our culture and pride in our heritage
peace!!!
