It's like your thread title implies: "Take The Rat Out of The Hood"

You can take the rat out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the rat.

What do u see as a "decent neighborhood?" If I recall correctly the last two men convicted for murdering their wives here in ATL lived in million dollar house neighborhoods.

If I paid $300 grand for a house, my sons will wear what ever in hell they choose per our standards not some krakkka's idea of proper. Excuse me for saying so but this is the kinda talk some Black folk spoke who thought the crux of our Civil Rights Struggles was to live next door to yt, go to school wid'em and for some bcome bedmates with'em.

Inasense I'm glad to see yt now abandon the suburbs to return to inner cities. Its strange to witness the same syndrome manifested during the 1960's have returned. Now Black folk, meaning middle to upper income levels, are also returning. Many never experienced living among their own kind in America. Integration was "da bomb." Now its called multi-culturism.

Is that where "decent neighborhoods exist?"

I wrote this on the other thread saying the same thing you are Baba, once again we are on the same page. What an honor.

"Because if you can pay 300,000 for a house, you shoud not give a %$## what any one of any race thinks of you. That is the way children dress today. It does not matter where they live or what race they are. Some folk have stopped trying to please white folk, we to busy trying to live day to day. I can guarantee that if you look at the white kids they are dressed just like our children."

There are plenty of buisness men (probably on these boards) who will attest that they have been treated poorly and judged and they don't even own a pair of Air Force Ones or a white-tee. While I agree they should pull their pants up on their behinds, they shouldn't have to stop wearing "urban" gear.

When we were young, we all wore things befitting of our age and the times we lived in. It has happened for many generations. Urban gear is "now" befitting of this time for our youth. This same logic holds true for the way they act as well.

EDITED TO ADD: View this clip. http://www.break.com/index/man_gets_...nd_robbed.html

And the guy that robbed the white man wasn't even wearing "hood" clothes. It's not always guys wearing "urban" gear that are committing crimes and acting "hood". He looks perfectly normal - according to your standards - but look how "he" acted.

The former is from the thread "what is really going on", also from triniman. He states the same exact thing over there that he does here. But Sumyr your replies are a bit contradicting, or am I simply misinterpreting them?

Contradicting - how so? I said that it doesn't matter what you wear the way people treat you has no bearing on this. Also, what you wear has no bearing on how you are going to act.

Right, n' I agree with that n' with what Baba said. But above you made a comment 'bout not bein' able to take the hood outta the rat, in reply to the same statement. That is why it came off as contradicting to me.

Unfortunately, he is a product of his environment. The "operative" word here is "allow." WHO is the parent....and WHO is the child? Whatever your HABITS be...they go where you go. The parents should stop "allowing" the behavior and get busy with their son.

Hearing the reaction of the room I guess I will be seeing my young brothers and sister looking like convicts because the grown folks think it is alright. It is not about what the white, red or blue man see us as. However, If you think is all right for your young black male to walk around with white plain tee shirts pants down on their Butt and their hair is unkempt not styled, like XEN. That comment about if you pay enough money for a home we could do what ever we want in our yard or neighbor hood will only get us black people in 2 places devalued homes and undesirable surroundings. If anyone of you in this room think I am being unrealistic, If you go to a doctors office who has no dress code or wears his pants on his Butt and cusses every time he speaks to his staff. I know I am going off on a tantrum but if you as a parent allows your young black children to dress and act any how they are heading for 2 places jail or the cemetery. Still have love for you.
