Question Is it good or bad to donate to Salvation Army?

Do you give to the Salvation Army? When you see those bell ringers for the Salvation Army, do you stop and give up your last change or do you just keep walking? Do you think that they are for real? Do they really help those in need? An inquiring mind needs to know.

I have before. I need my money right now. But I'll donate clothing, shoes, or accessories in a heartbeat. I also make sure that they are in good condition.

I mean I see them. But you have to understand. they are a company. Someone gets paid of the money you deserve. Your heart is there but try this. Instead of giving your hard earned black money. Give a person some food. Really if you see a homeless person give him a meal ( like a #1 from McDonalds). Or if you know a black parent who is struggling, give her a few dollars. Those are direct non-filtered helping. No money took out of it for other people's paycheck. Just good ol helping a person in need. Are we that slow that we even get had for helping people?? Do a direct help. HELP A PERSON IN NEED DIRECTLY
PEACE

NEVER EVER DONATE CLOTHES TO CHARITIES!!

those bastids export all of the free clothing that is donated to them and sell it in africa for prices that the local garment industries can't compete with. thousands of people have lost their jobs because of these so-called charities.

Yes, i give to the Salvation Army... because i have seen the actual work they do here in New Orleans. For more than 20 years this organization has responded to diasters of all kinds, with more resources, than the Red Cross.

That means a lot to me as a fire fighter.

now that you mentioned it.....i did see salvation helping out the katrinas. i didn't see goodwill do anything to help out and they're supposed to be the oldest charities to help those in need.

The Salvation Army, along with the Red Cross, is legitimate. They really do help people in need. They will also help you find a lost loved one. I always put change in their can if I have it.

I stopped supporting the Red Cross because of the many scandals within this organization. This includes the recent firing of its Chief Executive Officer for alledgedly having an affair with a subordinate employee.
