True Time with Mabus episode #1 (a serious topic of today for humankind)
Welcome everyone.
Are you financially, publically, governmentally, legally, ethically, racially, characteristically, socially, maritally, sexually, psychologically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, religiously, and environmentally secure? How so? How not?...Like any ones have you not secure? Tell all about it. And are you the one in control of what has you secure, or are you a sheep, so to speak, to what has you secure? How so?

I am financially, publicly, ethically, legally, socially, sexually, psychologically, emotionally, physically and spiritually secure.
Financially: I have learned to handle money, both mine and other’s, responsibly.
Publicly: I do what I can to ensure the safety of those around me. I am always aware of my surroundings and try to keep myself in good company when possible.
Ethically: Lady Truth said it best…AIN’T I A WOMAN…I AM WOMAN
The biggest and best barometer I use to measure whether or not I am on the right track, is my conscience. If my sleep is sweet and rest is blissful, then I don’t concern myself with whether or not I’m ethical. It’s a lifestyle. I live it. I don’t try to be it.
Legally: I try to make sound decisions for my life as much as is within me. I can never completely prevent the legal system from slighting me, but I can do my part in not assisting them by providing evidence of impropriety when at all possible.
Socially: As per an earlier statement, I try my best to maintain good company in my sphere of influence.
I work daily at changing and growing me. It’s my reasonable service to mankind to be the best Nyela I know I can be.
Sexually: Well let’s just say that self awareness and a strong sense of identity goes a long way in achieving a level of comfort ability within and with myself and whatever gem I call “sweetheart.”
Psychologically: I’ve learned to take care of my heart and mind and guard it with my life. It won’t prevent all intruders but it certainly will keep a great many undesirables out.
Emotionally: See the above.
Physically: I believe that having a healthy body contributes tremendously to who we are and who we become. As black woman, science says I am at risk for any number of chronic, debilitating diseases. I’m on a quest to prove them wrong. So I faithfully support the growth of my local gym.
Spiritually: I believe unequivocally in a being greater than I. I believe said being has an intellect far beyond human comprehension. I further believe said being created me and life itself. The least I can do is honor that being in a way the displays my complete gratitude. For me, I call that being God. He has a son I call Jesus. Despite what another values or holds true, it works wonders for me. So I don’t try to fix what isn’t broken.

Mabus, I must admit your topics are always thought provoking. But why do I always feel like you are a Psychology student and are trying to get us to do your homework?
You answer the question FIRST, then I'll give my response to you.

Sumyr I thought about that as well. I've often wondered if he was a researcher or if he was here to collect some sort of data. But nevertheless, the topics are certainly interesting to me.
Responding can be therapeutic on my part.

Thats a whole lot...
Having said that, I can only say this.
I am not completely arrived in many areas, but Im striving to get there. If one is to be holistic, then one must acknowledge their short comings, and if the truth be told, there is always room for improvement in all fronts. I am reminded of the story of the rich man who built barns to fill his wealth and all he had acquired. He felt that he had "arrived" yet Christ tells us, that The Lord said to him, "thou fool, this night your soul is required". The he tells the man what now will become of your "wealth"? Its a story containing a principle that tell us that we should always self examine ourselves and continually make steps to improve because none of us can fully say we have arrived, we can believe it but in reality we are fooling ourselves. Striving for excellence should always be our desire but none should get a swole head and think we have arrived because we know anything can happen. Sure we can be secure in many things but if 9/11 or katrina taught us anything, we would be wise to understand life changes and all the wealth, emotion, peace of mind can fly out the window at any given time.

I completely agree. We never know what's going to happen when. But it certainly helps to be as prepared as one can be when the ball inevitably drops.
The story you referenced I am quite familiar with. And I agree there was a lesson in it. When thinking of that story I'm always reminded of how important it is to stay humble and grounded. He wasn't cast away for having much. He was cast away for his inability to and desire to not do what was right with his much.
But point taken. We have to always know that things can change at any time.
