I dunno. Lord love you (male!) for asking. That's for sure!
There's a lot of self-hate going on, I'm noticing... (no matter how "arrived" we think we are... we've become so selfish, and so self-deluded.)
You put it best: saaaad state of affairs.
Indeed.

Why make an issue if you know our history
When you look at the women architects that actually designed most of the stuff we see in Kemet above the sands, to Queen Nzinga, to Xica in Brazil, Harriett Tubman, Sojourner Truth, the thousands of house women that poisoned ole massa in the big house, Fannie Lou Hammer, Angela Davis, Sista Soljah, Maxine Waters, Queen Afua, Adelaide Sanford, Sister Carol Taylor, Queen Mother Moore, Cynthia Mckenney, and the African centered sisters on this board,.............
the question or comment should be what is OUR ROLE AS MEN, and why don't we act like we know, when I go the PTA meetings and open school and I'm the only brother there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always think there are two kinds of women out there the Career women and the family oriented . I f a guy wants a long lasting relationship and he goes after a career woman this is going to be a challenge for him, because she would put her career first and everything else would be second.
However if they guy wants family Oriented woman ,there are many women out there who are not confused about their role in a relationship and will play their part to perfection. People have to stop trying to create forced relationships. This is our problem people are sacrificing way more than they should, then the whole relationship becomes unbalanced, and eventually crumbles.
A good relationship requires a lot of time between the two people, its a must, the same rule applies for the career man also who never have time for his woman.
Want a great career well you're gonna have to put a lot of hours away from home and family, well at thats the price for those who wish to make it to the very top.
The problem is some of these career women later on realized that they want a family but being a career woman most of your life and never have time for other things, it will be tough to have a traditional relationship that requires a whole different set of skills and mindset.
The simple question that most women must ask themselves today what do you want most? a good Career or a good Family? It's difficult to maintain both.

It may be difficult, but it is possible. Women, especially Black Women have been juggling career and family for it seems forever (in the perspective of our live in this country). I have a career and have been very blessed with 2 great kids, who know that they are loved and well cared for. I am not there alone and know plenty of women that have success in both areas.
There

There are women that only want a career, women that only want a family and those of us that want both. Neither is the wrong choice.

Black women have had to be mother and father for years. Thanks to welfare in the 60's many black women had to hold the family down alone because the county would not allow benefits if the father lived in the home. Black men we are long removed from our place thats why we have no right to try and tell a black woman her place. Be a man and quit whining, she's going after her's because you won't go after your's. I love my help mate.

Can't say I agree with this entirely, you make some very good points however, I know of a many women, a few in my family who are top ranked in their field of work CEO's, executives, top military officer's etc etc, making over $200,000, and still have a very stable home and put their husbands and families above everything. It depends upon the woman, the security she has in herself and her state of mind.
