Why I love AfroChat but get mad sometimes.
Hello All,
![]() This is my only post on this board though I've been an avid reader and supporter of AC since way back. I just like the fact that here, black folk have an airtight discussion forum to spread love, junk, pain, knowledge, drama etc without the man all up in it. So kudos to you all for loving yourselves and the rest of us who may not post, but who check in every day to get some of that love, and in our quiet way, support you. ![]() It sure is nice to see y'all every day, and to imagine what you look like in real life, and to feel your pain and joys, and to say a prayer for you when you tell us things ain't going right in your world, or to have a smile on our faces when you say they are. You are family. BUT... Sometimes we who don't post sure can get mad at some of the things y'all be saying. When You Trip. Like the brother that can't stop spamming that junk about 'The Rise of Players', or the otherwise stellar sister who went off on Al Sharpton calling him a media ho when any negress/negro that grew up in NYC knows it don't matter what ofay steps up to you, all you got to do is call Al and he got yo back no questions asked. Him and Charles Barron and Elombe Brath and 'em. Or when DBlack gets on James and it goes on and on and we feel embarassed because that's the last thing we wanna see when we come in to Get Some Love. Or the sisters and brothers that got mad about black people from eleswhere using the term 'ni--er'... and I still don't get what their point was cause white folks been calling black folks over there ni--ers just as long as they been calling black folks n--ers here. Which is why black people need to Get On A Plane and Go Visit Other Black Folks across the ocean and see that they going thru the same things we going thru. Or like yesterday when Man-in-Minnesotta said that African women come over here with AIDS and that's why the stats are so high for sisters here which made me say Dang when he turned around and said he ain't saying that African women are less important than AA's. I still don't know where he got them stats but it sure sounded like a lie, like 'blame them dirty Africans if you cain't blame nobody else'. Folks, we love you out here. But y'all be trippin sometimes. This is still the best place to be and we'll keep on supporting you. ![]() |

Funny post.......Soy Negra.
I love Afro Chat because you can get a wide array of viewpoints from all walks of life about many given topics - from Afro's. Afro Chat is definitely like an extended family member for me. And one of the only sites that hasn't bored me to death and that I always come back to - even if I don't post just to read other posts and see how everyone is doing.I can't think of anything I hate about Afro Chat...........well, If I just must say something.....not too thrilled with all of the changes the site has undergone in recent weeks. Some are nice, others take some getting use to. |

Welcome to AfroChat.
So you decided to register to tell us how mad you get at times and who knows what else......maybe cause drama?? This is not a perfect world and everyone in the world does not always agree with what others say regardless. If we did, we would all be robots. Seems like you have been keeping score of what others say. Man-in-Minnesotta was discussing the thread on aids yesterday. Very interesting. You seem to know quite a lot.

The word was never meant to be complimentary. |

Glad that you finally brushed the dust off your keyboard to chime in. In reflecting on the 2 and some years that AfroChat has been existence, I think what is most unique about us is that we aren't trying to be everything to everyone and that we expect adult level conversation and communication. And we are very upfront steadfast about being pro-black. Yes, we all get 'rowdy' given the right topic or post, and no, no one here is perfect.
But we are all AFros! Your write and express yourself well, which bodes well here. I look forward to your increased participation. Sumyr, Sorry about the changes. It's for the better, I promise!

I guess I should have been more specific and said I didn't like the fact that my Poetry Award mysteriously got deleted with the new changes. Oh well, I guess I will just have to win another one. Don't quite know how I'm going to though with Poeticasylum spitting out 2, sometimes 3 "GREAT" poems a day. He wasn't around back in the day when I grabbed my award. But truthfully, DBlack, I couldn't really think of anything I disliked about Afro Chat. So, on that note, keep up the good work to you and your moderators! ![]() |

was just luck that i surfed onto the site. thought i'de join and encountering frustration on trying to post, etc., i just left... some long time later, i received this message from AC "...we miss you" what!? who misses me? was it an auto message or a real person? anyway, thought i'de try again (kept my pass word). this time i kind of read through the hows and such and tentatively posted a question. lo, some person responed. wow! then i scrolled through several sections and i must confess i read some of the most wonderful writings, pure literature, poetry ( that recent poem "Trapped" was dynamite!)and just plain things in the recesses of active minds. again wow! got hooked then and there, can't stop now. just hope that i will figure out in due time how to become more adept at using this site more effectively. Love |

I guess I like getting involved with the conversations so I'll post whatever if I feel like it. But I post on some other boards too its not like certain things people post on the boards annoy me. This is actually the most laid-back and mature board I post on. You should see the other ones I post one.
