what's up with the angry black man?
Do you think the stereotype of the angry black man is true? All we see in the media is pretty much black men angry and well ... that makes me an angry black woman!
We used to always see Spike Lee angry all the time but when I saw him at a speaking engagement some years back he was the most down to earth charming, nice guy I'd ever seen. It wasn't the angry black man image the media tried to portray.

you know that's a good point, at what point is it about making the buck and at what point is it about keeping your dignity.

This topic comes up very often and I personally get so tired of it. The angry black man..the angry black woman. As if the emotion of anger is synonimous with the black race. Like other people dont get angry. If a black man is angry then he has a right to be in most cases the same goes for a black woman. Sometimes you hear black people who dont want to stick up for themselves or speak about injustice because they dont want this lable. I say own your anger and make it into something productive. You aint hurting nobody but yourself when you hold that mess in so if your angry let it be known and try and handle it in the most mature way possible
See..now im angry
BUT I AM NOT AFRAID TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT!!!!!

I think the angry black man exists in all black men. Come on yall we live in Amerikkka. If a black man isn't angry. He's either rich and drunk. Rich and high. Poor and drunk. Poor and high. Broke and drunk. Broke and high. I think I covered the gambit. Anyway. Its certainly not healthy or spiritually to always be angry. I just wish white folks would stop pissin us off.
:)
I can deal with my sisters. I love em too damn much.

Like I've consistently said and felt in my life. I know I have a wooden leg, that is I am a Black Man in Amerikkka. Some folks, mostly whites; throw road blocks in front of me.
It makes me damn angry, but not stupid enough to forget to handle my business for myselve my family, and my race! I am a charter member of the ABM club. I am a angry Black man,but a prudient man. "I use all my weapons to bear on my enemies!" "The Art of War" This has to start with my mind, and fellowship with my people Black People!
First, and foremost we must use our reasoning powers to logically and systematically solve our problems and never become baited by jive arse

You are so right on with this, soulfulempress ---and let's take a quick look at the state of Amerikkka as it languishes in the grip of the some of the angriest WHITE men & women on earth---their rage and dysfunctional greed have created a socio-political cancer with far-reaching effects.
On the other hand, I see many of my Sisters and Brothers transforming their rage into art, into literature, into profound revolutionary action. Many of us have learned to transcend our rage and channel the energy in a positive way...seems to me we could teach the Wasichu a little something about "anger management".

I think we should be angry, but it must not be misguided anger. We are in a deplorable state and need solutions and action put forth. The way "others" see it, we are mad about everything and we should be happy at the progress. It's much deeper than that. You can't be a permanent victim, you have to evoke change...starting with self and working outwardly.
