"We used to always see Spike Lee angry all the time."

Lest we forget? The Mass Media controls just about all that we see. And sure, Spike Lee is an assertive black man that does not play that racism chit, one of the reasons why I personally applaud the brother. With that being said, "don't believe the hype--especially when it stems from the mainstream.

"As if the emotion of anger is synonimous with the black race."

(dryly) Ain't it the truth? As if we as black people hold the monopoly on anger. I could not agree more! :(

What's Up With The Angry Black Man?

We used to always see Spike Lee angry all the time but when I saw him at a speaking engagement some years back he was the most down to earth charming, nice guy I'd ever seen. It wasn't the angry black man image the media tried to portray.
I notice also how the media prtrays us as the angry man and I don't understand why. I understand there are some angry young men out there because they feel no one is listening to them or they don't have anywhere to go but isn't that of their choosing? If you approach a person with an attitude they will respond with attitude. I notice that there are a lot of anger out here period and don't understand what it's all about.

Valid Point. Between the music videos and comedies, its rare when you see images that are positive and non stereotypical.

Exactly. Life inspires art while art imitates life. Thus, it serves as a powerful means of expression to the powers that be.

Maybe there should be more of us angry black men..... too many of us have gotten apathetic.

And white folks don't piss me off.... I'm not around enough of them to allow them to.

Let's stop making EVERYTHING a racial issue.... cause there's enough going on within the black community to piss us all off.

Interesting point. Perhaps, some of our people have become accumstumed to turning the over cheek and letting injustices ride. Could Passitivity equal inactivity in respect to the progress of our people? No disrespect to the non-violence movement intended.

No argument there. Brothers and Sistas, as a people, we have our work cut out for us.
