Did I say there was nothing good in Africa?

Be realistic, I know what African has, but with all the gold, diamonds, oil, uranium, lumber, water, copper etc; and the fact that Sudan could feed the entire continent by itself - then African should be a paradise, but it isn't is it. Why is there so much poverty, why are natives risking their lives to flee, ask yourself why. There is a lot to be done before anyone with their head screwed on the right way think of moving lock, stock and barrel.

Well...

Truth be told. This is not for the faint at heart. It will be hard work and actually the focus should be on our ability to help Africa where it is needed. Also one must remember that there are certain prejudices that we as "Americans" would have to deal with. Dont expect a warm welcome. Though the policy would be enforced, the attitudes and mannerisms may be one of "reserved" thought. I think it is challenging and healthy honestly. Black people need something to look forward to that transcends our experience in this nation. There are many concerns and yet we should operate in the apparent confidence they in the African Union want to place in us.

Tru dat! Even here to right this ship of fools is not for the "faint at heart." Its much easier being pawns in this game. Massa has such an incomparable "good house." One of our Black Renaissance writers said: "u took the best; might as well take the rest." It looks as if europeans, in general; the Chinese, Qaddafy and others are positioning themselves do to just that: TAKE THE REST. So when those who seek American scenario and life stylee in Afrika finally even just visit Afrika that's what they'll see. More of the same. And clear signs of our demise... as a cultural people.

Sooo many prejudices laced in ignorances of even our traditional cultures. Or through judging folk in Afrika by some of those seen here. Yet I do expect a warm welcome as u term it. I know many, many, many of us who've visited often; others who're repatriated. We on both sides of the Atlantic have mucho to learn about and experience with our Continental Afrikan sistas and bruthas.

A curious aside: the bruthas I know who have Afrikan born wives had to go to Afrika; most Continental Afrikan men marry Afrikan descendant sistas right here. Few bruthas from here that I know have married Continental Afrikan sistas while they lived here.

Good morning jimihaze - the questions asked will ultimately have to be answered by the questioner. In fact questions asked determine answers received. One's politics are revealed, along with one's allegiances. If a cursory peek is taken into our past it can be seen that what we're discussing here is a continuation of early Pan African workings; i.e. for Afrikan people to first see themselves as A PEOPLE worldwide, unapologetically proclaim such and then consciously make moves to manifest its collective will. As has been said here, its not for the faint of heart.

There's much that doesn't sit right with me about it. First of all I see no need to re-name Kwame Nkrumah's "baby." THE OAU (Organization of African Unity) appears exact enough. 2: why say the AU is to be like the EU? Has the EU sought the advice or participation of an AFRIKAN IN ITS FORMATION!?!
We know that by hook or crook some european will worm his or her way into anything Afrikans at home or abroad aim to do for ourselves. Apparently history's lessons are dormant at the high levels of AU's politicians.

It indicates to me that either europeans have their hands in the mix or that our valiant "leaders" in the AU feel indebted to some of them. And intentionally or not, someone seeks to reduce the importance of Ghana's first national leader in this modern world. And I say that any #1 Continental currency should be coined and named in some form Nkrumah! Not for Nelson Mandela. Kwame Nkrumah clearly spoke as a voice for Afrikans, Black people. Nelson Mandela spoke for all peoples. I didn't have to read a book to know this. He was heard right here in Atlanta, before bcoming South Africa's (Azania) first Black leader.

Names are important elementally.

However what's sought, e.g., dual citizenship, rights to do business as the indigenous Afrikans do unimpeded and a Continental currency are laudable. And what is being addressed to us by Dranfu.

Yes our Continental Afrikan sistas and bruthas need our resources and we, imo, need to invest our knowledges, skills, finances and bodies into needed rebuilding Afrika!

One major answer given so far was to point out that if a person is formally granted a dual citizenship, its nullified by joining the armed forces of the granting nation. Not a revelation, is it?

Corals is a British national. So her voice is strictly one of debate and discussion. This appeal is seeking petition support from any Afrikan in diaspora but the call is to Afrikans living under Amerikkkan nationality status. So if she seeks dual citizenship, it has to be done through England.

And for those who question the call to us in America only, fear not. Others in our diaspora will be called for. Meanwhile they can just keep on focusing on the revitalization of Mama Afrika! We can be concerned and share sentiments with all Afrikans, but in this regard each of us has one signature to use.

Unless a better plan will be brought forth, don't block what's already in place. If its not too late, I'll sign the petition now.

What you're saying is truth. On many occasions this very same subject you've mention has come up in conversation between myself and my indengenous African friends. A lot of walls need to be broken down to avoid the divide and conqure from the powers that be. If we all unite, there's power in numbers and wealth of resources just within the soil of Mother Africa.
