It's easy for a man to stand up and bash his own but I don't see him on the streets holding forums or classes on how to be a person with character or how to make it in this society. To me he is a typical side line brother who is to scared to get on the field.I know he gives money to colleges but what good is that if they are not going.Bill needs to stick to telling jokes to white people.

Personally i have never thought that there was a problem with us criticizing some of the ongoings so long as that criticism is constructive. A person can talk all they want about the problems and who is to blame and why, but a real black person won't just stop at the criticism. They go out there and they make it a point to teach what is right as you have rightly pointed out. Now some people just criticize and their contributions to the black race end there. That's inexcusable. I always tell people, do something to fix what you think is the problem. Try to fix it.

So,Dumping money into college funds for tax write off gets him free pass bash us.I say "us" because it's my people. How come I don't see him on the street level with me and the rest of the brothers trying to make a difference.Matter of fact,Why is he trying to be a mouth piece now instead of forty years ago in the struggle when he could of made a difference. He says that poor people talk funny with ebonics but he made a show with people talking and looking funny(Fat Albert and the gang). This man is out of touch.Until he shows me a game plan then he can keep dancing a jig for white america.

Before you make an unsubstantiated post , check out what one is able to write off and what amount. Until you show me something you've done that is the equivilent, of Mr. Cosby's generosity, please close you mouth and I direct that all the sideline critics here.

Freedom of speech...Remember that don't you?Besides, who gave you sole regulatory rights to this site to tell any adult to close their mouths. No I can't match in dollars what he has done but you take a trip down here and see programs that I helped created with other groups for the youth of my area. So,I am very much on the playing field. If I offened you on your hero then that was not my intentions but what's his solution to our "problem blacks".

Considering I don’t have the authority to censor anyone, take "close your mouth" in perspective (I had no idea that would need an explanation). Cosby isn't my idol; I recognize he has flaws just as I do. But I also know your attacks and many other don't hold muster because you aren't contributing at his level. When these Black institutions are in danger of failing it’s him and his wife, and the like, who are helping. While you try minimize their generosity with faulty logic. Actions like that truly offend me especially in this age of selfishness, anyone who contributes should be given credit.
Cosby shouldn’t be idolized or worship but he shouldn't be dismissed or condemned for the negative aspects of his life, like any person, he should be judge for all he does.
I'm glad you are contributing to the cause and your community and I would defend you as vigorously if someone attacked you or try to minimize your commitment, achievements, and contributions.

@Jcsump and Afrosaxon, you resolved that dispute well brothers. I just wanted to commend you both for that. Amongst ourselves, our perspectives and our opinions on certain matters in our communities are going to differ. However, what matters the most is the respect and the love we have in our hearts for each other as African American men and women. I say the perspective can differ, so long as we are all pro-active in our communities, doing what we can so that our people can progress. I'm a business guy, so for me the bottom line is the only line that counts and ultimately, that bottom line is progress. Disagree on (subjective) issues of perspective, but when it comes down to the bottom line, do what you can so we can progress. That's what matters.
