can black people be saved by white thought?

i have noticed several posters who come around and present the white conservative line to black people.
they say, if we blacks would only adopt conservative principles we would be OK.

i happen to believe that it is appropriate for black people to do their own thinking and save themselves.
what do we need of the slave masters thought?

Precisely. After our ancestors endured being placed in captivity and being assimilated into Europeon Culture by the White European Colonolonist during Slavery, we still have to combat blantant and sublimal cases of racisim from day to day . But for those of us who are grounded in our history and draw strengh from our ancestors, we're independent spirits who can't be broken.

Of course. The day you let someone else do your thinking for you, that is the day you become a puppet and would be dancing to every tune they play. Maybe that is what some have already become.

i consider conservative republican values to be white thinking.
i do not think that black people have a tradition of every man for himself.
i do not feel that is natural for black people.

White people are a selfish people, historically, and we are not. I agree, it is not natural for us to be that way and it pisses me off that there is a growing number among us who are becoming so. IMO one of the steps needed in re-strengthening our community is getting the community to get back in tune with the thinking that helping one another is a good thing, everyone lending a helping hand. When we help each other there is no need for the superhero white man/woman to swoop in and save the day, putting one or more of our people in their eternal debt.

I agree also. we do need to learn our culture and get back to the basics in order to move forward.

I don't see how or why whites would want to save us. There is no way they can save us. Like Neely Fuller and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing say, this is about white survival in their minds. Saving us means their demise.

But the sad part is a lot of us are sitting around waiting on them to do something to make things right for us and that is never going to happen.

I wholeheartedly agree! By white folks "saving" us, it would merely be yet another ploy to continue controlling our race. They've influenced every aspect of our lives: dark vs light skinned, straight hair vs natural, the lack of quality education and health care, and the "backbone" of our family structure. They've made a business out of our orphaned children. I remember a time when we just took care of each other without having to "pay" for permission to do so (adoption). We opened the doors of our homes and hearts for those in need. I feel that they have done ENOUGH for us and it's about time we learn to stand on our own.

We need to empower our children with the knowledge of our past. They need to know that the "freedoms" we have now were earned by our ancestors' blood, sweat and many tears and that nothing we have was freely given to us. We had to TAKE every freedom that we have. They need to learn about Malcom X, Dr ML King, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, Thurgood Marshall and the others that are too many for me to list. They need to study OUR history so that the past won't repeat itself!

We were able to put aside our differences during Hurricane Katrina and Black America came through for the victims, without the help of the government! I was saddened by the massive destruction of Hurricane Katrina and the blatant disregard of our government towards the victims. They had the audacity to refer to them as "refugees". Yet, I was proud of the way we came together to provide whatever assistance we could for the victims. If we could come to Louisiana's rescue in their time of need, I know we have what it takes to "rescue" ourselves!
