Exactly. This will be the true litmus test.

Agreed, but in the case of Mulan, at least, Disney has no reason to cast non-Asians in the part, especially seeing as how there are HUGE Asian populations in the vicinity of Disneyland and Los Angeles (and cast actors can be transferred to Orlando if no local Asian performers audition for the part there).

These are not European American women.

Many of my female friends have been talking to me about this and I'm really upset about the fact that Disney just will not have a Black man for a leading male. Kingdoms in Africa don't count to them? I mean, I can't think of ANY black male characters that Disney has produced and when presented with the opportunity, they just don't. That's messed up. No matter how much we say we're going to raise our children with a sense of self worth, a lot of people don't. These movies mean a lot to a lot to kids, boys and girls alike. I saw Aladdin. I saw Mulan, Pocahantas (also snatched up by a white man, but that's a whole different issue). I mean, if Disney's just going to halfass it, why do it all.

I'm looking forward to it, if only to see how they'll portray her, as well as how they'll set up the location.
Disney has their work cut out for them, I simply want to see how they'll do.

I'm not going to sit here, lie, and say I'm not excited to see them have a black princess. I grew up in a time where the little mermaid, sleeping beauty, and snow white were very dominate in my childhood. And yes my mother did teach us from a very early stand point that black is certainly beautiful. But of course my mother did not have control over what disney movie was shown in after school care either.
Though my elementary at that time was very diverse they put on whatever cartoon movie (more often than not disney) was around to quiet us down until the parents got there to pick us up. And usually it was a picture that showed a blonde blue-eyed princess as the main character.
