Constructing a banner
What software would I need to create a banner for a forum? Can I use paint of do I need to get something like Adobe?

I'm not a graphic designer but you can try something free like gimp to make one. Maybe one of the members more experienced with this can chime in.

I use photoshop, but it's not open source. Although Photoshop is not free, you can download it from torrent sites like torrentreactor. You will need a torrent client, like utorrent. Google it.

I used photoshop here at AfroChat extensively for:
  • Banners
  • Sigs
  • Buttons
  • Backgrounds
  • Icons
