African Fractals
Ron Eglash (who was mentioned before on the forum) is an ethno-mathematician gives a roughly 17 minute talk on his work on African fractals. He covers building and organization, art and a few other topics briefly and describes how complex these scalable organizational structures are. There is a brief section on questions he was probably asked frequently since he originally did this project.

Ladies, no no noooo. You must embrace your inner mathematician. It's all around us...
When your favorite jazz musician drops a 7th or 9th onto that chord right before the bridge....that's math. Or, when a drummer flips the beat to a triplet feel for the last few bars of a solo......straight math goodness. When you figure out how many more times you can hit the snooze button before you'll be late to work....math. Two tablespoons of this, half a cup of that....tasty math. Fashion, Finances, Philosophy.....all math. |
