Just a suggestion to the mods about deleting posts...
If you delete a thread because it was previously posted, would it be too much to ask to note the creator of the thread with a link to where the same thread was previously posted?
I created a post that was deleted but I swear I cant find a similar thread anywhere even after using the search.
Just a suggestion. Thanks!

No problem Isis7.. I was able to find the thread "Do You Attend Your Class Reunions" made by Cheese Biscuit on March 24, 2005. I simply went to the Search bar and was able to locate it. :)

If you have a question about a deleted thread, please inquire about it in this section as you have. AfroStaff are required to give a reason for the threads they delete, but are not required to place alink for every incident of duplicate posts, as this would significantly increase their workload, however they are free to do so as a courtesy.
I will mention this to the staff and allow them to make the decision on this matter.
As a reminder, the rules require that all resident search the community existence of a topic before posting it. Following this simple rule makes it easier for everyone.
thanks for your inquiry and understanding.

I realize the staff are not required to place a link to the original thread, I offered it as a suggestion because it would help those of us who may want to communicate on a topic, only to have it deleted. As you know there are an abundance of threads on this site... I did follow the rules and searched prior to posting and found nothing on reunions.
Thanks for discussing it with your staff, Im sure taking a few seconds to send the link of a post that is deleted would help others who searched for a topic, didnt find it, posted a topic, only to find it deleted.
Thanks!

A lot of times when you use "Key Words" in the SEARCH bar such as "Class Reunions" or anything that pertains to the topic you want to request, you can normally find a thread there.
What we would suggest like DBlack said is to check and see if there's a similar thread posted. It makes no sense to read the same topic over again.
That's like posting a thread in Gossip and the same topic was posted last week. If there are any similaries, and they carry the same NEWS.. they will be deleted. We as mods are not trying to come down on your threads..but please READ first and make sure you're not duplicating what was previously posted.
PS.. there normally aren't any LINKS to peoples opions or post. The Search bar works wonders.

Jamie, I understand what you are saying. I'd have to be a retard to not search for "reunions" or "class reunions", As I stated before (twice), I DID conduct a search prior to posting my thread, using "key words". Also as I stated before, I came up empty. I also checked for similar threads. If I hadnt have checked for similar threads or conducted a search, I wouldnt have even bothered posting this particular thread.
The reason why I suggested LINKS is because on another site with this very same format, if there is a duplicate thread, a link is provided (You go to the other post, copy the link that shows up in the address window, and paste in notes for the person who created the duplicate thread) and then it is either deleted or merged. Matter of fact, Saraphen merged a thread of mine regarding HBCU's.... it worked wonders :D
Anyway, mine was only a suggestion, and since this site has a section for "Tips" I just thought i'd post my suggestion. I'll completely understand if my suggestion would be too much to add to your numerous duties as moderators, however I thank you for taking the time.

as I said before, I'll take this up with the staff and see what they want to do with it. Again, it's not a requirement, but staff are free to post the link if they choose.
It's a great idea of convenience, and therefore a good idea.
thx, again.

Or better yet... how about just merging similar threads?

Makes no sense to read the same thing over again Isis. Updates Yes... same thread NO!
