I would never ever teach my child to aspire to be the leader of such a wicked system. That is not an honorable position to have. My child would be taught to fight tirelessly for the freedom of our people.
But that is just me.

I would be one of the least of those who would choose to be "validated" by any person of another culture. However, even common sense would dictate that if God created a diverse world of people, it would behoove us to get along and work together, versus separating and working apart. Everyone knows that strength is only found in unity. If all people groups aimed to be separate and were estranged from one another, this world would suffer greatly and there would continually be war. The sooner we are able to compromise, recognize one another's strengths and contributions and create together, the sooner this world system will move ahead in a positive fashion. Otherwise, we continually hold ourselves back.

Maybe you need to be saying this to a WHITE forum. Like I said on another post there are over 300 WHITE hate groups in America there aren't 300 black hispanic or Asian combined. So, why is it BLACK people who ALWAYS have to figure out NEW and IMPROVED ways to make White people feel more comfortable around us? Or new and improved ways to NOT make them feel bad about not being fair or equal?

I'm not sure Obama is the answer but I honestly believe McCain is not. I don't see him as an Uncle Tom. When I think of an Uncle Tom I think of someone who is really out to hurt the black community. Obama like Oprah is just a bit out of touch with what is really going on within in it. I think he has the smarts to do what is right and not what he wants to do like our present day president. My vote is going to count for something. I refuse to sit back and not have a voice.

Furthermore, although we all live in America, America has very distinct divisions, classes, and social borders. Don't kid yourself to think that any leader can effectively deal with all. But conventional wisdom has always proven right in that if one doesn't know how to care and lead his own, he is incapable of leading others. Kind of like the dad whow's home/family is a mess and is the governor of a state, or CEO of a cooperation? It speaks to character.

I agree that I should read more about politics to become better informed. I won't argue that. But, unfortunately there are many voters who are just as politically unsavvy as I am. I think that you and I both will agree that the presidential election is an exercise in choosing the lesser of two evils. After all is said and done, the question that we ask ourselves in the voting booth is, "Who do I feel more comfortable with leading the nation?" Is McCain the better choice? Of course no one can effectively deal with all of the many divisions within American society because like the old saying goes, "You can please some of the people some of the time....." I guess my question to you is, what do you think that we shouldbe hearing from Obama that would make you feel more comfortable casting your vote in his favor?

I don't think that it's about making whites feel comfortable around us or
not making them feel bad about not being fair to us. You can't control how people react to you. Do you feel that whites should be trying to make us feel more comfortable around them or trying not to make us feel bad about their unfair treatment of us? That's not going to happen. White people hold the majority of power in this nation so they don't have to make us feel comfortable. They have nothing to lose by us not achieving more, and we have everything to lose. So taking the attitude that they should be accomodating to us, isn't going to get us anywhere. They don't have to accomodate us because they don't need us to be in the positions that we want to be in. We have to rise above on our own and the only way that we will do so in America is by working within the system to gain the power that we need to effect the changes that we want to see. I don't see white people suddenly turning around and saying, "You know what? We have misjudged and belittled you and your people for hundreds of years and we are truly sorry. Here you take control of the world because you really deserve it." That would be ridiculous.

Thank You !
Some people out there don't seem to realize this fact. I seriously doubt a person who is only focused on black issues would even have a shot out there.

Yes . . . yes !
Marrying black is not absolutely conclusive but I'd expect a powerful person with deep problems with his color & race to have found the whitest woman he could get. And no, I'm not saying all of those in an I/R are "self-hating" like that but some certainly are.

Also, maybe the naysayers should look at the broader picture. How could Obama being elected the next president HURT black people? If he did nothing at all to help blacks, he has at the very least opened the door for the next black person to be elected president. He has shown young black men that someone who looks like them can run this country. They will then aspire to that and believe that they can realistically achieve that. Belief in self is the catalyst for all achievement so my hat goes off to Obama for painting that picture for our sons to see.

I love ya . . . your my Jewel !
Seriously though, I'm not in love with Obama but I don't hate him either.
And, we are not speaking of a black bull dog with a long history of slamming the black race in order to appeal to a white conservative ("racist") audience.
We are speaking of a man who appears to be solidly in the liberal camp in his world view.

I am kind of challenging it but asking this question in this thread.
I want to people to explain why ? If Obama has done something to make you feel he will just be " the black overseer" ( to paraphrase someone in here) on the national plantation, I invite you to explain why.

How many black politicians were aggressively using the word in public discourses in the national public arena as if it was alright ? He knows better than that. He would not use the K-word or the N-word in such a way because he knows there would be opposition.
I hate people who try to find back door ways to pull this society back into deeper levels of racism. This is why McCain is the person you should be examining for danger signs; not Obama.

Comeon now,
You putting that much weight into McCain calling people gooks?! Considering that he was fighting against them in war, and was tortured and held captive by them as a P.O.W., I think his animosity is justified. I'm not defending the man, but life as P.O.W. is about horror, pain, torture, isolation on a protracted basis.
If you really want to know why people here feel the way they do, use our search feature and enter "obama" and "uncletom". You will find alot of posts on the issue; many from me. And if you find something you think is wrong, respectfully challenge it. Nothing wrong with passionate debate on the issue.
Far as I know McCain never called me a "N", so I'm not hurt by him insulting vietnamese. That's for the vietnamese to address. And while I hate wars, especially unjust wars, I can't help but respect a man's ability to survive horrendous conditions and return to his country to live a life of public service. I can appreciate the power of the human condition. That being said, I think McCain is borderline crazy. But at least I know he's a man of courage and is by no means a modern day conservative. He's paid a personal price that he's still living with to this day. Would anybody hear wish prison camps on their worst enemy?
Obama has just got far too too many negatives. These are facts, not fiction. From the inexperience, to the hypocrisy, to the lies, to the special interest distortions, to his piss poor record on voting (worse in senate right now), his abandonment of most black civil right organizations and leaders, his forsaking of close associates and friends at any whim of controversy, it just goes on and on.
I understand the intoxicating lure of hope and change, but there has to be evidence of that in someone in order for others to intelligently expect or even dream of those wishes to come to fruition. History has been proven, that when we expect man to do that which he has never done before, man disappoints us every time.

Why are we examining individuals and their personal morality?
It isn't any individual that is our problem it is the whole damn system!!!
Once we realize that we stop having discussion about Obama or Mc Cain or anyone else every four years. Then we Start having discussion and struggling for our own Solutions outside of the Democratic Party, Outside of the Republican Party, Outside of White Power, Outside of Parasitic Capitalism.
We Start looking like we want Self-Determination cuz that is what we need!!!
