Malcolm's House Negro/Field Negro dichotomy bothers me because of its potential to imply successful blacks are traitors. But, some of the biggest sell-outs around are out there in the field with you.

I prefer Chris Rock's, "there are black people & there are ni#$%rs and the ni#$%rs have got to go." Or, to say it nicely, there are black people & their are jackals and the jackals have got to go. The jackals can be rich or poor or any income inbetween.


That being said, why is Obama a jackal.

That's a good one. I don't believe it my misguided Sista. An Black man attending an Ivy College doesn’t make him White just because of his grandparents happen to be Caucasian. Because, if you want to take it there, alot of us thanks to colonization/slavery have mixed/white grand/great-grandparents by default. However, thanks to Constitutional Law (one drop) and the powers that be we're still classified as Black. So don't even take it there before doing your history.

YOu have a misinterpretation of what Malcolm X said. What Malcolm X was referring to was class truth. The difference between what the workers/field negros want and what the middle class/house negro wants. Not to say that you can't have workers who act in the interest of the ruling class/slave masta or that you can't have what would normally be the middle class/house negro act in the interests of the workers.
But I am not gonna go out and say that every person that white folk describe as successful are because in my eyes they may not be. I don't see an African person who owns a funeral home as successful because they have an interest whether they say it or not in seeing African people die in violence because that is how they make money. It is in the interests of African Police Officer to see more crime even if they say everything other wise because without that crime that African is out of a job.

I see a successful African when I see Huey Newton, or Malcolm X, or Bobby Hutton, or Mumia Abu-Jamal these people aren't rich some where killed some are in prison, and most had no money. But they were successful becuz they stood up for their people to be Liberated.
In my opinion you can't be sucessful any other way!

Give the man a chance and you will find out. Don't forget, Obama had a choice of top law firms in his career. However, he chose a civil rights firm, where he represented community organizers, discrimination victims and black voters. Win or lose, the work of his candidacy will go down in history as one of the most well put together political machines in the history of the US. This is a smart man. You do not get this close to the presidency in white America without being extremely wise. I think he deserves a fair shot at becoming President Barack Obama. My gosh, who knew this could happen now?

He has also had a term in the senate. What has he done there, look at his track record.
Better yet look at those people who are in his camp or financial backers. The Daily family I believe is the name in Chicago is supporting Obama, this same family was apart of dismantling the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party and Assassinating Fred Hampton Sr. and Mark Clark. There are people with histories apart of Obama's campaign.

I would have expected people in here to label me an "Uncle Tom" for thinking Hilary was better placed to win. Instead in the e-mail, I was even accused of being . . . . an Obama supporter. Even if I was, is that a bad thing ?

Apparently you don't know what an UncleTom is. And, you apparantly haven't really researched Obamas record. Do some legwork on your own and you will bettter understand why many blacks (although a minority) feel this way.
