I want to people to explain why ? If Obama has done something to make you feel he will just be "the black overseer" (to paraphrase someone in here) on the national plantation, I invite you to explain why. Quote:
I hate people who try to find back door ways to pull this society back into deeper levels of racism. This is why McCain is the person you should be examining for danger signs; not Obama. |

You putting that much weight into McCain calling people gooks?! Considering that he was fighting against them in war, and was tortured and held captive by them as a P.O.W., I think his animosity is justified. I'm not defending the man, but life as P.O.W. is about horror, pain, torture, isolation on a protracted basis. If you really want to know why people here feel the way they do, use our search feature and enter "obama" and "uncletom". You will find alot of posts on the issue; many from me. And if you find something you think is wrong, respectfully challenge it. Nothing wrong with passionate debate on the issue. Far as I know McCain never called me a "N", so I'm not hurt by him insulting vietnamese. That's for the vietnamese to address. And while I hate wars, especially unjust wars, I can't help but respect a man's ability to survive horrendous conditions and return to his country to live a life of public service. I can appreciate the power of the human condition. That being said, I think McCain is borderline crazy. But at least I know he's a man of courage and is by no means a modern day conservative. He's paid a personal price that he's still living with to this day. Would anybody hear wish prison camps on their worst enemy? Obama has just got far too too many negatives. These are facts, not fiction. From the inexperience, to the hypocrisy, to the lies, to the special interest distortions, to his piss poor record on voting (worse in senate right now), his abandonment of most black civil right organizations and leaders, his forsaking of close associates and friends at any whim of controversy, it just goes on and on. I understand the intoxicating lure of hope and change, but there has to be evidence of that in someone in order for others to intelligently expect or even dream of those wishes to come to fruition. History has been proven, that when we expect man to do that which he has never done before, man disappoints us every time.

It isn't any individual that is our problem it is the whole damn system!!! Once we realize that we stop having discussion about Obama or Mc Cain or anyone else every four years. Then we Start having discussion and struggling for our own Solutions outside of the Democratic Party, Outside of the Republican Party, Outside of White Power, Outside of Parasitic Capitalism. We Start looking like we want Self-Determination cuz that is what we need!!!

The most important elections to me personally, are the ones that are about the house. The senate, the house of representatives. Thats where i think the power lies. Why don't we criticize them as much as we do those who are running for president. The president is just a spokesperson when you really think about. Whether black, white, democrat, republician or indepedent. Yes, they make very important decision, but do they really make those decisisons themselves.
I think thats where the trouble lies. Thread after thread about obama, but nothing on those in the house. None on the individuals in the house. Aren't they suppose to represents (if u believe that but if u don't pretend). I really think our elected representatives seem to get forgotten about. And whomever said that he's running for president of American and not black America is a 1000 percent correct. And simply, if u don't like him, then don't vote for him. He doesn't share you views, your vision, then don't vote for him. |

Because the 'whole damn system' is build by people. If people are corrupt and immoral, then so is the systems they erect and maintain. You cannot ignore the moral composition of the individual that is in a position to impact the lives of others. Until the individual leaders improve, the organization that they control and impact will continue to suffer. And, unfortunately, so will people of that society.

Individual Senators and House Representatives have far little impact than what a president can effect. You need to go back and read more posts here. We have grilled tons of white politicians. Take some time to read more. This is a discussion forum. We discuss. You seem to have no problem in supporting and ranting about issues you like, so show the same tolerance for others that share a different viewpoint. To have a philosophy and viewpoint, and to be willing to exchange it with others intelligently, is what discussion forums is all about.

For the topic, here's a list of reasons why Obama is a modern day Uncle Tom: - During the Ronald Reagan years, Reagan introduced racist economic policies which turned the low-income neighborhoods of America into sub-standard hell holes. His policies encouraged the rise of the crack-epidemic. The murder rate for the United States exploded under Reagans policies. And than subsided under Clinton's. Yet, for some reason, white folks tend to praise Reagans policies as being progressive. Obama is infected with the virus that is Reaganism. He has abandoned the progressive principles that made even the most conservative Democrats appealing even when they sold out to AIPAC and led popularist policies. The same people who funded Ronald Reagan are now funding Obama's campaign, which is why he's out there promising to steal right-wing ideas. - He constantly talks about "coming together" with the neoconservatives and white establishment to run America. This is nonsense because it's impossible to co-run a country with people that believe in the exact opposite of everything that Blacks and minorities believe in. - Where's the emphasis on poverty and economic inequality? Why is it that whenever he talks about this essential Black issue, he doesn't even talk about the hood or about Blacks? Even Bill Clinton did that much. Why does he never talk about raising minimum wages to a living wage? Instead he talks about how the middle class whites are "suffering" from high gas prices and how we need to help the middle class whites and not the Blacks. All I hear are the same vague platitudes over and over again. - And finally, the most irrefutable reason. Obama criticizes black men on a regular basis. But, when Jeremiah Wright said some real **** and criticized White America, Obama did everything and anything he could to prove to white America that he was a good boy. He held multiple press conferences condemning Wright and even went as far as quitting his church of decades to prove to white America that he could be trusted to uphold the current system. Do I need to spell it out for you? Of course I would prefer Obama to McCain, and there are many things I agree with Obama on. But when it gets down to it, John McCain and Barack Obama are actually very similar. Neither one of them supports pro-Black policies. Neither one of them plan to change the current Capitalist system in any way. Neither one of them supports a single payer health program, which is actually favored by a majority of the people in this country. Neither of them plan to end the U.S. occupation of Iraq. And both of them support Israel and bash Iran on a regular basis. McKinney, Kucinich, and Nader; all third party candidates, are much more progressive than Obama or McCain. To bad they can't win because the large majority of American voters are sheep not capable of individual political thought. But that’s beside the point. Obviously, pro-Black policies aren’t what’s finally gonna free black people from the poverty cycle or end our struggle against this American system. It’s the emotional comfort of knowing that, while our ancestors were brought to this country’s shores in shackles and forced to work as slaves for hundreds of years, we’ve now arrived at the point where we can elect a president who’s kinda black. ![]() Last edited by Juice. : July 7th, 2008 at 09:51 PM. |

And, that commentator is right. It is not acceptable to use "gook" either. He can hate the scum who tortured him; he can hate the Communist leadership; but it is not acceptable for him to indict the entire Asian race which the use of the word "gook" does. |
