Obama Chastising Black Fathers, Once Again!
This is one reason why I absolutely hate the character of this UncleTom. While Obama shuns black organizations, avoids even speaking of Civil Rights issues, he makes haste to once again criticize black fathers. As if it is black fathers that are the problem with Black America. As a loving black father, I find his cherry picking of Black America, disgraceful.
Always willing to criticize his own, at the pleasure of white folks, Obama never criticizes whites. And since Obama needs the woman vote, I guess he would never criticize women for having babies out of wedlock (not saying he should, just pointing out the hypocrisy).
Obama had nothing to say about Jena six, until much later via a quiet planned statement.
Obama has never fought for black or minority civil rights. Obama has never led or started a movement for the improvement of lives of blacks, black families or minorities.
Black men, we need to rise up as a people and reject this UncleTom, before it is much too late.
More on this...

Well, I see Bojangles is dancing for duh white folks again ....
Far too many men in America, not just black men, fail to shoulder their responsibilities to their children. But, Obama, being who he is, chose to single out just black men. We all know why. The brutha is trying to convince white people that he is a good boy who can be trusted to work in the big house with Miss Anne and not like dem knee-grows picking cotton out in the field.
Note the hypocrisy. Obama has no problem criticizing black men. But, when Jeremiah Wright criticized White America, Obama went into his best Stepin Fetchit routiine --- holding press conferences to condemn Wright and even quitting his church to prove to Massa that he was a good boy:
Obama is just a politician, no better or worse than any of the other slugs who crawl out of the mud every two to four years. If you want to get a really good laugh, read his plan to end the Iraq war which apparently no one in the media has bothered to read with anything remotely approaching a critical eye. It can be downloaded from here:
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/pdf/IraqFactSheet.pdf
The following is from the bottom of page two of his plan to end the war. It makes _crystal_ clear that Obama has no intention of ending the US occupation of Iraq:
Residual Force to Remain: Under the Obama plan, American troops may remain in Iraq or the region. These American troops will protect American diplomatic and military personnel in Iraq, and continue striking at al Qaeda in Iraq. If Iraq makes political progress and their security forces are not sectarian, we would also continue training the Iraqi Security Forces. In the event of an outbreak of genocide, we would reserve the right to intervene, with the international community, if that intervention was needed to provide civilians with a safehaven.

On the realtip, I look at everything subjectively Brotha D as you know.
Now Despite the fact that he is the politician, he's certainly not the first Black Man or last to speak on his plight on being a Black child raised by a single parent without a father in public and won't be the last. And at many of the Black Organizational Meetings, allot of our elders in the Civil Rights Movement have spoken on the impact of the breakdown of the Black Familial Infra-Structure. At the end of the day, we got work to do and the strength comes from the unity of the Black Man & the Black Women.

I have to disagree. He didn't criticize Black fathers. He criticized absense Black fathers. No one can deny the absence of the Black father has done a lot of damage to the Black community as a whole. Every woman I ever met who didn't have a relation with their father tend to have issues with men.
He chose to speak on absense Black fathers because (1). his absense father was a Black man and (2) he was speaking to an Black audience. No, we do not own a monopoly on missing fathers, but it is having a damning effect on our youth.

clearly you don't get it. everybody is mad, not at what he said (which i think every one here would acknowledge as being correct), but why he said it: to get on white people's good side. you have to remember that he knew that there were cameras there and that anything he would say the white folks would love to hear, and whatever he said would be broadcasted to all the white people he could want.

About Obama Statement
I love my people but it's a bitter pill to swallow when we choose to close our eyes to the many problems that our race has until someone tells us how it really is. Obama just stated what is, our race has a high rate of deadbeat dads. We don't want to hear anything negative about our race but some things we need to improve upon. It's a reality that shouldn't be. It's time for us to wake up.

You are missing the point. In America, when a politician speaks before a particular audience, he sucks up to them. When Obama goes before any other audience, he sucks up to them. When he spoke before AIPAC, he praised Israel's war machine and spent 15 minutes bashing Iran. When he spoke before the liberal Christian group Call To Renewal, he sucked up to progressive Christians by praising their non-literal interpretation of the bible. That got him in trouble with bible literalists like James Dobson, but he will probably appear on Dobson's Focus on the Family show in the near future and then suck up to bible literalists.
www.kansascity.com | 06/24/2008 | James Dobson accuses Obama of `distorting' Bible
The only segment of America Obama doesn't suck up to is Black America. Come on, man. At least admit it to yourself if you can't bring yourself to own up to it to anyone else. Obama is all about Obama and nobody else. He will say or do whatever he has to say or do to who ever he has to say or do it to to get elected. And, the brother knows he can not get elected unless he proves to White America, over and over again, until they believe it, that he does not give a damn about black people.
Now, if you willing to live with that level of disrespect in return for being able to say. well, at least the snake in the Oval Office is a black one this time --- well, damn, but to each his own.
