Burn Victim
They say in life you have to “get your fingers burned” as you grow up.
You have to go through “a trail by fire” to see the light.
Fire is supposed to renew the land it alters.
I guess I should be something else by now because the flames eat me a lot.
You can catch me in the burns victims ward.
Burned by society, burned by love, burned by money, burned by education, burned by the system in this land.
The fire is steady growing not giving the land time for renewal.
So while the flames lick my spiritual back, I watch the world burn while Malibu is on fire.
Even though Southeast Georgia and Jacksonville smokes it up every year.
Not that I care but isn’t West Hollywood always flaming, But Amerikkka isn’t the only blame for the flame, I often see the church in shame.
I smell the charred remains of my past scorch marks still red and tender as the winds push the heat.
Some get use to the heat and kick up the dust shoes covered with ashes.
The pain seems to be a must, so the world pulls closer to the sun.
They add to Global warming and talk as if the destruction isn’t happening, but if everyone’s dead who are they going to spend the money on?
Sitting under their heating lamps with their skin peeling all for the love of color on others they reject, they turn and look at me as if I’m crazy.
Because I search for shade and an extinguisher.
I keep growing from my stinging burns, realizing that I have been reborn from the fire.
Though I doubt I’ll ever be release from the burn victims ward…
