What’s up?!
Huh? Yeah I know shawty.
I went to school with her.
She use to be a stuck up self hating,
Ya know…..
She was stuck on her self,
Loved her lip gloss,
Through on the make up,
Tight close, flash nails, and of course
…..That damn perm.
Every weekend, Straightened out
Fried died and yeah always laid to the side.
OH MAN SHE WAS UGLY!
Nah she had a cute face,
Smooth brown skin, with matching eyes
But ol gul was ugly as hell inside.
She complained about her darkness,
Wanted to fight every light skin person,
And if you didn’t have a low cut
Or had some sort of chemical mess in your hair
She had SOMETHING to say.
Everybody was “A little nappy head”
“Old ugly African” or her favorite
“Nothing more than Slave offspring”
She hated herself and her mom was no better.
She was one of those hair dresser that hate all naturals
Gave her daughter a kiddy perm and 4
Mama was domed early in life
By the time I met her in high school she was through
Color contacts, name brand everything, in love with every
Wanna be black *WHITE BOY*
Huh? No she doesn’t look like that type now
What happened?…. well it started with that “Bad Perm”
She went home her mom left it in to long and her hair fell out.
Her attitude……well some times when you get joked on
You Change up.
She tried to hide under head wraps
Attracting different friends thinking she was,
Pan Afrikan…
They put some knowledge in her head along the way.
She started really thinking.
She realized black was beautiful,
On its own
No make up,
Let them eyes shine,
Never got another perm….
Guess that **** hurt.
And mama came to her senses
Oh and some Rasta cat got up wit’ her.
Yeah……ol boi “took her to bed”
But he loved for real.
They got married last year,
Been together since `02,
Got some “natural” babies,
Her mom even cut her perm out.
She’s real cool now, we talk every now and again.
I can tell she’s been awake for awhile.
I learned a few things from her,
But life taught her more than I can ever know.
And all it took for shawty to change
Was that BAD PERM
