The Da Vinci Gold
Both of us are exhilarated, liberated,
in a frenzy,
frantic, tho not in a panic,
& neither is close 2 cold fainting.
But each has become an envoy of joy.
4 @a recent romantic stuff garage sale
You were decent & enchanted enough
2remove a large veil
from a soiled, oil,
an old painting,
so heavily caked
with grime & dingy.
like nearly every fake.
Yet somehow essentially, Providently Di Vine
You knew You’d find a Da Vinci!
~~~~me~~~~
This nicest, priceless work
had long been left in lifeless hurt.
Where others saw as a peeling flaw,
-- a seemingly inactive canvass--
You saw as an appealing draw of balance,
revealing raw talent
& a dreamingly attractive ‘can’t miss.’
While others smothered
the urge 2splurge a penny or2,
any or few
& left me--real art--on a shelf 2gather dust
saying their steel hearts would rather rust
than purchase this, the worse of paintings;
they’d purchase something worth ‘sainting’
--analyzing its essential, canonizing potential.
Each relied on that pathetic contingency
with no esthetic tendency,
committed 2being a cynic
who’d rather not touch or trust
an authentic.
Finding a Da Vinci
is a prominent, not common event…
4it is not commonly known
but Leonardo’s heart glow
was not the art flow
from his flings with brushes’ emblems
but rather his swings & rushes of adrenalin’s pendulum
when he turned his attention 2inventions
--things purely of philosophy & curiosity.
He drew few finished works
~~less than 20~~
yet each has an image worth
more than money.
& so it is with what we’re building, feeling,
drawing: a sprawling, revolving, evolving, enthralling,
infused-with-never-b4-used hues of LOVE
portrait of perfection~~
our own fortress of protection & affection.
Eventually, when the pain's left,
Da Vinci & we
will be spoken of in the same breath.
Amazing when one can truly see...what one can find.
Lonnieugene, Wow, this was simply beautiful and almost breath taking!  To have you and Poeticasylum on a private balcony spewing poetry while the ochestra played melodic tunes as my husband and I sipped on the finest vintage money could by would be.........heavenly!
"Da Vinci." Now if i could only learn 2 spell.
It's most amazing what 1can find inside a Matrix. i only wish i can match my wit 2the Muse of Your Matrix as well as Your Maze.
Asylum, i'm merely your understudy in understanding. But thanx4 humoring an ole fella.
Sumyr, believe me, the last thing Your husband wants 2do during his SumyrTime is listen 2anything i have 2say, play or sing. The ear he'll be thinking 'bout will be which of Yours 2 nibble on, 2spill his desired dribble n2 &2 scribble his own poems on2 Your passionate skin. Now i can't speak 4Asylum.
