God Gave Me Mama
This is a piece I wrote about 5 years ago.
Since Mother's day is Sunday I thought I would bless the mothers and mothers to be.
God gave me mama
to see after me.
She cared for diaper rash.
She plaited my hair.
She watched me when I didn't know she was there.
God gave me mama to keep me straight,
to remind me to be patient and to wait.
She prayed for me when I was losing my mind,
when I thought the world hated my kind.
I laid in her arms as a child in need,
never once complained about my greed.
God gave me mama when He can't be there,
regardless how foolish I act or pretend not to care.
I thank God for mama, 'cause she is my best friend,
The one and only person in this world I truly can depend.
Throughout all my drama, I understand why God gave me mama.
