Right now I think the best song out is "I need you bad", by Jazmine Sullivan..Her voice is so rich, and that beat makes me want to loose my mind. I found out that "Pepa" (from Salt n Pepa) was the one doing the speaking parts...I had now idea.

You are so right! I am in love with that song. She is already getting compared to Lauryn Hill and Alicia keys, but she her own style. Yes, that is Pepa, I thought it was Jazmine. I hope she keeps it up because if she does, half of these other singers are in troooouble!! lol

"The price of freedom is death"
Ya hurd!!
There is a lot of conscious rap out there. The ish is so tight it is mind boggling but here our people are making millionairs outta of fools like TI, JayZ, P Diddy (or dildo), 50 cents, Young Berg, etc..
I'm trying to get my hands on more of this conscious music. If anyone can help a sistah out, let me know.

Well shes probably best known, for a song she sang in the late 80's called "Thanks for My Child", written by a member of the group, "Full Force"(BO Legged Lou,...I think...huh anyone..? taken you back, just a bit!!!LOL) may be slightly dated ,for you young ones,,, LOL..she's had hits here, and there, mainly R&B, and Gospel..(aint it funny, let me be me,.. father, can you hear me?, call on him) but, I became more aware, & attracted to this Beautiful, & Gifted Young Angel, by watching her act, and sing in the brother Tyler Perry's plays(I love them all, hope he brings more) let me tell you..this Woman does it all!! I gravitate towards her not only for her awesome voice, but because of her Strength, her Compassion, her Longevity... her.... *sigh* shes simply incredible to me!! find out more on her personal life, then you will feel me,LOL & when you have a chance, give her a listen, she does solo projects, and tours with a band disFUNKtion.... for drifting....but Im also a huge fan of Miss Patti Labelle (Somebody Loves You Baby") (she has done back up for patti & a few other artist too )...another Wonderful Soul whos signature style... runs chills through my body LOL

Now that you've mentioned her being in Tyler's Perry's plays, I just watch a video of her on youtube killing chaka khan's sweet thing. (I forgot the name of the play though) I see what you're saying. What a voice!
