Just because you're from down South, don't mean you have to support everything coming from there.

Some of yall just support these clowns because they're from the South....and no other reason.

It becomes a territorial thang and you just support them regardless of whether or not they're doing themselves and their people a disservice.

I'm from the Midwest but I still acknowledge that the East Coast produces the best rappers because thier cosmopolitan environment gives them more things to rap about.

When a writer wants inspiration...he moves to New York.

But that's besides my main point.............

The point is there is talent all over America, but SOME of these Southern rappers are purposely being exploited just to make fools out of them and disgrace the race.

Just like when East Coast rappers started getting too political, the focus of Hiphop was moved from the East Coast to the West Coast and it started becoming "gangsta" and promoted the criminal element.

Well when rap started getting too political on the West Coast, the focus had to be shifted again...this time to the South where it became "dirty" and grimy.

Monkey acting and funny talking.

The plan is to clown Black folks and make them look so primitive and repulsive that their music and presence will no longer be tolerated.

That's why groups like Dru Hill and 112 are no longer being promoted.

No more Jodeci or BoyzII Men groups......they had too much talent and soul.....people loved them and worshipped their abilities.

You don't hear real soulful Black music much on the radio today....all of it is the same hypnotic nasty sounding crap over and over and over again.

Black music has been steady deteriorating for the last 30 years only because the radio and what they're playing on it is influencing the youth who aren't able to properly select what they want to hear and are at the mercy of these airwaves.

The industry doesn't want real Black talent out thier any more.

They like Black music but they don't want to see it being done by Black people, they'd rather see White artist with talent get the fame.

So what they do is promote Black artists like Rihanna or Akon or Sean Kingston or Macy Gray....weak wack artists who obviously have no talent. If they can get about 90% of the Hiphop artists to run around in baggy pants and long white t-shirts....absolutely no style, talent, or rhythm.....

Then they can glide in a Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke who dancing down the aisle in a suit with all types of graceful moves to charm the ladies and make the fellas sit back in thier seat and say
"Damn....them White boys can sang!!"

Then their mission is accomplished.

kareem.

just because u don't like them don't mean we don't like them. i hate your boy justin timberlake and i damn sure don't listen to your brother enimen. some of us...at least me... do like the rappers from west, east, up north and the south. you have to listen and feel the vibe to the music that raps about the lives on the street. see i'm from the streets and i know and regonize what they are saying. you have to LISTEN and HEAR what they are saying.

as far as the others you mention....rhianna, akon, and macy gray.....wait a minute!!!!....did you diss my girl macy?!...nobody disses my girl...she is unique in her own way and thats why i like her. anyway,........they have made their way up the success ladder and still have things to more work to do. they are getting better everyday. IF you don't like thier music or don't understand it then don't buy THEM.

Kareem, Again I fail to see your evidence of how the Southern Rappers have soley contributed to the decline of hip-hop/rap. So, I suppose "fo-shizzle, my nizzle" and "crip walking" was more of ........how did you put it.....a "metropolitan" way of expressing this genre of music??? And I wonder where did the sheer genius of Chicken Noodle Soup orginate from (North)? Must have been a mastermind to come up with that - all by themselves.

Sounds like hating going on to me - mad that some of your boys from the North/West aren't getting as much air time as these "southern slaves who just stepped off the plantation" as you so eloquently put it.

I would support your claim had you made it a more general accusation. But to single out any one region for the decline of hip hop isn't a fair assessment. And for the record I don't support all southern artists simply because I'm from the south. I enjoy music from all geographical locations, be it the Boogie Down Broncs or the dirty rural roads of Mississippi.

For you to act as if the North and other regions should receive some type of award when they are just as guilty is obsurd. I came to the realization record companies are going to promote what sells and radio staions are going to play what is hot - and right now - Southern hip-hop is hot. Every region has had their time to shine. It is now the time of the South to shine. Deal with it and move on.

PS - You mentioned Jodeci as being role models of sorts. Did you know that two of their members were habitual drug users???

I agree to an extent. East coast rappers have contributed to the downfall of hip hop as well but most of the Southern rap music that I hear is the same ole' ice, hoes, and rims, with 2 finger keyboard beats and an 808 drum kit with hi hats that'll pierce your eardrums. When I was in Alabama and my cousins tried to pop lil' john, lil' joc and all the other lil's type cd's into my cd player, you know damn well I took it out and popped in some Siegel, Kiss or Nas.

Though, it seems that it does appeal to many people, especially here in NY. Driving down the street you'd think you were down south because all you hear blasting out of cars is "PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR" or "DO YO CHAIN HANG LOW". For now, I'll just listen to my preferred rap music until the southern phase passes, though I think it will take quite a while for that to happen.

Look at your post again and see what I just did. I put every artist that is R&B related in bold so you can see that argument sounds completely off-base. I'm dismissing every single comment you're made about southern rap since you keep doing what you shouldn't be doing in this argument which is bring up R&B acts in a hip hop/rap thread. If you haven't heard there is a difference. You mentioned ONE rapper out of all those R&B acts and he's a new guy. I'm from the south and I don't support all of them and trust me (I've showed it on here before) I listen to a sound of the south that people aren't ready for fam just like a few others do. You want to have argument about southern hip hop? How about you name some artists that actually RAP first, get your mind right, and come back with a stronger argument. You're right.....the music industry is pushing the wrong kind of artists commercially. But YOU didn't say that. What you said was southern rap is ruining hip hop, named very few souther hip hop artists, and then named mostly some damn R&B artists. What part of the game is that? Look, I'm going to help you right now.

Southern artists you should named if you have or don't have a problem with them:
Project Pat
Eightball & MJG
Goodie MOB
T.I.
Devin The Dude
Trick Daddy
Geto Boys
Tum Tum
Chamillionaire
Haystak
Da Shop Boyz
Young Jeezy
Bubba Sparxxx
Young Buck
Stat Quo
Outkast
Rick Ross
Trina
Playa Fly
No Limit Records (past and present)
David Banner
Dirty

Those names people are familiar with. But I got some names you need to check it out if you want to hear a side of the south that doesn't get that much exposure.

Radio stations all over the country are flooding the air with this country-crunk crap.

They don't give a damn what the public wants to listen to anymore, they are gonna play what they're gonna play anyway and FORCE you to listen to it and FORCE the next generation of Black youth to love it.

From East to West Coast you can't hardly hear anything else but the same mumble-mouth crap over and over again.

These step-n-fetchit negroes are doing more to ruin the hiphop and the image of Black men than all of the gangsta rappers from the 90s.
They are on the verge of setting AfroAmerica back 200 years with all that bucking and shucking they're doing on television on these award shows.

Got the whole world laughing at them.

Rappers like Lil John, Mike Jones, TI and others...........especially the ThreeSixMafia.

A Got-damn disgrace..

Purposely gruffing their voices up and grunting sounding like gorillas with the flu.

Most of them sound like slaves who just stepped off the plantation.

I don't know where they find these clowns at.
The type of dialect most of them use....I thought that old slave dialect died out 60 years ago with Bo-Jangles and 'em.

Here they're bringing it back and trying to spread it out over the entire world.

Now Black kids way up in Chicago and Portland talking like THEY just stepped off a plantaion from listening to these clowns on the radio all day.

"Wut choo know 'bout daaat guuuuul"

Why the hell is a 17 year old from a metropolitan city like New York sounding like Bo Jangles?

My mother used to take me down south all the time to visit the family and most of the Black folks down there didn't talk like these clowns.
Even those with strong southern accents don't sound like these fools.

I don't really consider them Southern rappers because they have no talent.

The South used to produce REAL talent like Scarface, Mystikal, Arrested Development, Usher, TLC.....but they didn't get nearly the publicity these monkey acting fools with all that mess hanging out of thier mouths and from thier necks get today.

And all they do is chant the same hypnotic shiit over and over again and bounce up and down with their arms up like monkeys...that ain't talent.

That's acting like a monkey.

Walking around with thier hair braided like some death-row inmate or all bushed out and nappy like a wild fool.

I'm from the old school where we had smooth robotic dance moves, tight rhymes with meaning and substance behind them.
When hiphop was in it's golden age, teenagers from all over the world were inspired and had pictures of Black men postered on thier walls.

Nice clothes, smelling good, tight fades.........
We used to be fresh to death....had everybody trying to look like us.

Now the youth of the world have to look to Justin Timberlake or Eminem because most of the Black rappers ain't worth a damn no more.

You're on a roll around here.
