Do you have to get something in return in order to do something nice for someone?

I just do nice things for people, just to do nice things for them. I do not always look for something inreturn

When I do something for another person I do so because I want to, not because I am looking for something in return. I beleive in keeping it honest, no I don't help every person that appears to need help, because all things are not what they appear to be. Sometimes it is hard to know who to help and when because some people don't know how to accept help, they automaically assume that you want something frome them.

If you're doing it for the "right" reason you won't need anything for your efforts, as the satisfaction you'll get from knowing that you were a help to someone else leaves a feeling that nothing tangible can equate to.

Is it me or have people gotten extremely rude and selfish.

No, it's not just you. It’s as though people's hearts are cold and many have become desensitized. They have no respect for the elderly, children, or the handicap.

It's as though a person who is friendly and giving is out of place [that individual is being insincere]. But a rude, selfish, and disrespectful individual is "keepin it real" or being honest. Go figure... People nowadays get some sort of thrill out of mischief and misery.

I guess the bottom line is you simply cannot give what you don't have inside.

i was always taught to do for others without thinking what they can do for you...i enjoy doing things for others....

I believe that everytime you help somebody, you've made things a little more pleasant for them for the moment, and in some cases for a lifetime. Some people are sincerely appreciative of your help, and others are in greed of your help. It's always smart to recognize the latter.

If it means letting a mother with an arm full of grocery and a baby in front of me to check out, then I'll do it, or during my shopping, stop to assist an old man who's stumbling around looking for a certain item. These things are small, but could mean a lot for these people. I don't expect to get anything in return, but as it relates to karma, it is always a given when you do help someone else. And I guess that's what make you feel good inside, all the time.

It is just in my nature to do nice things for others. I don't seek anything in return. It is sad but I have found myself in stores helping people find things and I don't even work there. lol. But I just see so many people unhappy and if I can do one little thing to help I feel good about it.
