Do you have to get something in return in order to do something nice for someone?

I have no problem helping others .... I personally believe we were all put here to help one another and to help build those around you especially children .... those who will run the world when we cannot .... and Yew my friend that was a great quote taking from a gospel song my living is not in vain and I also adhere to that belief .....

If you do look for something in return, chances are you will be disappointed anyway and then become resentful so why set yourself up? Like Kenneth Eromosele said, God will reward your good deeds every time.

This statement is an important one....so often in our community, poeple live for the moment and do what is best for them in the moment...not only do they neglect others though....they neglect THEMSELFVES when they create a monster out of a child that will have influence and possible control over them one day.....once again karma at work. More of us need to think ahead like that.

I don't expect people to do something else nice for me in return. When I do things that are nice to others it comes from the heart. Things coming from the heart isn't supposed to be selfish. Otherwise it's being done for a personal use. However, if it's something that I'm lending to someone out of the kindness of my heart I DO expect for them to return it lol..

I have always had it instilled in me to always try to be helpful to others at any opportunity.

That's the main reason i'm a democrat. I believe that in the greatest country in the world, we should be the most unselfish to our citizens. Instead we have created a culture that is self-gratifying, impatient, perverse, ungiving, unsympathetic, and self-absorbing.

As i believe many of you are, I am proud to have come from a life of poverty, and hard times to be in a position that I could actually help others, even in the most simiplest of ways.

I know that people may abuse my kindness, but I don't use that as an excuse not to give anymore. I understand that we can only be responsible for the intentions of our deeds, not what the receiver does with it.

Im always giving and getting nothing in return but its okay because god blesses me tens times more than what i gave so its cool with me and plus it makes me feel good when i can do something for someone that just the type of person that i am

I have done nice things and haven't thought anything else about it. Then there are other times I did something and in the back of my mind I wanted the other person to reciprocate. In those situations I don't take it personally though.

Basically, I just treat people the way I want to be treated. I feel like if you do that then you can't go wrong.

I feel that if you do something for someone you souldn't look for anything in return...that souldn't be the reason to do a good deed...
...& if you do look for something in return you could be setting yourself up for a big disappointment.
