What do you think?

Afros, please tell me what you think about this...

Yesterday, a co-worker of mine asked me if I'd heard about what happened to Juanita Bynaum. I said yes but that's old news from last month (August).
She said that she had just read about it and remembered when she got married. She talked about the million dollar wedding and everything. She said that it was sad and it just confirmed what she always said. I said, "What's that?". She said that "I think ALL men are pieces of ---- , especially black men!" I said you don't believe that now do you? She was passionate in her response and said "Yes, yes I do". I said no you couldn't because you can't generalize all men by the few idiots that are out there.
I'm not saying that when you've haven't thought something like that at one time or another about the person but to take a complete group of men and say that is JUST WRONG!!! She said that we would have to agree to disagree.
What irks me about this is she has a son. So that's like she's saying that her son ain't ----!! I wish that all black women especially mothers of sons wouldn't put that negative energy out there because little do they know what you put out is what you get back. This may explain some of the reasons as to why our black men are the way they are because they have been told that and if you are told that for so long, you will internalize that and possibly begin to project a behavior of that nature.
The tongue can speak life and death to situations and if we would remember that, I think that we as a people would be alot better off.

I think that responding to this post will be like beating a dead horse to death again!!

But it is sad for your friend to feel this way about Black men when she has a son. Maybe you should have brought this contradiction to her attention.

Unfortunate

Truthfully, I believe people generalize when they really do not have a concrete reference point. What happened to Juanita Bynum happens everyday to women of all color. I think she is just angry and probably wanted to just vent. If she is hardcore about her convictions then she will probably poison her own son in the process. Also, as far as Juanita Bynum is concerned, there are two sides to every story. I dont endorse hitting a woman at all. I also dont endorse someone being possibly provoked. Its unfortunate she feels that way about Black men. Yet, another question may also be asked. How do those Black men who she feels so terrible about feel about her. Like I said there are two sides to every story. You should pray for her and talked to her about her disturbing sweeping judgment about Black men, especially If she is trying to raise one.
