The guy who stood me UP!
....He finally called.

Let's see his son got shot, but he's okay; he had knee surgery, but he's okay; his babygirl went to live with her mother out-of-state and wants to stay with her mom; he's depressed cuz' he's on desk duty (he's a cop)......

I told him I don't hold grudges, but I only date men of integrity.

Hoo-boy! He certainly has his own issues to deal with. I'd give him time and space--and with the understanding that he DID stand you up.

Wow, I can't believe he called. I wonder why he even bothered.

Good for you. It's sad to see anyone go through trials, but it's not an excuse for a lack of common courtesy.

True enough. And the Sista needs to question why she attracted this man in the first. As I said before, what a women project is what she attracts. Some soul searching is in order on both fronts.

You're probably better off. If all that he is saying is true, just pray for him and keep it moving.

He finally called after all this time. Well damn! Good response that you gave him. If it were me though, we could only be friends in passing as when trouble strikes as it did him I would want him to share this hardship with me for us to endure together, not just be some after thought - after the fact.

Sister MadameX,
Thanks so much.
You are so right, I too think sisters should be sensitive to how God is using them in the lives of the men they have potential romantic encounters with and how God is perfecting their personality in the encounter, as well.
I humbly seek to submit to the discerning and revealing power of the Holy Spirit in my daily walk with God and reflect often during the day.
In my personal interactions with men, I am keenly aware that God calls me to minister to men in a very special way and draws me into special encounters especially with certain men to do just that. It is a part of the calling God has on my life and my special female allure. I attract a whole lot of men of all type, all the time. I feel it is the light of the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit at work in my heart (and theirs) which attracts.
Conversely, I feel the Holy Spirit also protects me from those who seek to do me harm of any sort and it repels those who are evil and have wicked intentions towards me. I walk confidently in the knowledge that the all-knowing and all-seeing God is working on my behalf in the universe to protect me from ALL people with evil intentions.
As I grow in Christ and walk in the light of his love I really realize how the light exposes darkness and those who walk in darkness, dwell in evil, with devilish motives are repelled amd eventually exposed.
I don’t think this brother who stood me up meant me any great harm. We had met sitting in the jacuzzi at the gym and I empathized with him over a number of months as he struggled with his son in a gang, his knee problems and his struggle with not wanting surgery and his seeking permanent custody of his young daughter.
I had prayed for him and his situations a number of times and had a concerned heart toward him. I think we had went out on a date maybe twice.
I wish him well and leave the door open for future friendly conversations only.
I have moved on in the romantic encounter department.
