Well...
I will say this, many times you have to know the difference between settling down and choosing to settle. You know people get burned or burned out. Then just do something for the sake of doing something. If we thought Ms. Right was the right one we all would choose her every time. Too many times its Ms. Right now that gets the bulk of the mileage. So many times we preach to our sisters to value themselves and dont settle for just anything. I think our brothers today need this more than ever. Lets be honest, HIV got folks shook. Brothers on the down low passing that madness to sisters. So a brother dont want to be at the crap table too long nowadays. I had tell my son something recently after confessed to me he wasn't a virgin anymore. *Well... I wouldnt call it a confession... hell the lil bastid was livid*
Anyway, I told him of the stats that 1 out 3 condoms have microscopic holes. He didn't seem disturb by it, of course I know why. Yet, this is the world we are in. I told him though dont get caught up with no chickenheads and ruin your future. Aint nothing worse than having a baby with a chickenhead.
**dont ask, im trying to forget**
Brothers are seeing the value of being with one, its the coolest ish in the world. Yet, we dont examine characters, enough. You see like Chris Rock said once no one meets the real person in the introduction of a relationship, they send a representative. Too often times men and women get caught up right in that introduction. Before you know, you have skeletons flying out the closet. There is nothing wrong with a man wanting to be married, its a good thing, but the cost still needs to be counted.

I was married for quite a while before my husband died so I am REAL NAIVE when it comes to a lot of stuff.
Character examination is a necessary thing and that is where we fall down on the job.
....but like that Donnie McClurkin song We fall down but we get back up again. I am learning.
I have always had a keen spiritual sense of discernment when it came to people, but this thing called romance and sexual attraction has me off balance. I have had to spend a lot of time in solitude seeking direction on my knees. Even then, I have hit the override button and find myself in situations where "I know better" :(

we most definitely sabotage ourselves in relationships. think about it. when u 1st meet someone, how real are u? i've seen my friends turn into complete strangers when a nice looking guy approaches us. they put on the high voice, get to giggling, battin' eyes, doing whatever it takes to get/keep his attention. soon as the guy walks away, they go right back to being the drinking, cussin', loud mouth chicks that I know them to be. LOL
now, i'm not tryin to say that i havent been guilty of this same behavior myself, but i've been trying to catch myself beforehand & just be myself. i think the more authentic & genuine we are upfront the better. That way, nobody is surprised when the real u comes out sooner or later.

I can respect that sista, and you know some dudes do it to. Game recognizes game. That ole fronting stuff seizes hopefully as we go on in life.
Hopefully, It's on the real, when a woman knows, who she is ,and wanna settle down. It's likewise for a man, when he wants a wife.
You better be straight, cuze you're going to be living with'em for awhile hopefully.
Peace!
