Broken Engagement who gets the ring?
Recently my brother broke an engagement with a girl. They were only engaged for 5 months. The ring is worth at least $5Gs. I say she should give back the ring. He says let her keep it.
BROTHERS:
Should she give back the ring?
SISTERS:
Would you give back the ring?

"She" probably should. But "I" wouldn't - unless asked.

I'd give the ring back if he asked me for it. If he doesn't ask, it's a nice parting gift.

If it ended amicably, I probably wouldn't ask for it. If she wants to give it back, I'd probably accept.
If it ended badly, I would have no problems asking for it. In fact I might demand that she give it back. That's just me.

Unless it was a family heirloom in his family, then the engagement ring is a gift. She has every right to keep it.

That's my take on it.

Now from watching the court shows, the engagement ring is conditional and based upon a promise. If the promise is not carried through the ring has to go back to the buyer. That is legally.
Morally you got another story, most women feel they are entitled to the ring.

The right thing to do is to give the ring back, the selfish thing to do is to keep it. but if the giver doesn't want it back it's not an issue.

You wouldn't get that ring back from me, and if demand it back. The only ring you might get is one around your neck, and it wouldn't be one made with 'precious stones', but more like rope. I'm only playing. :LolLolLol

Even if he doesn't ask for it back, I'll offer it back to him, whether he decides to accept it is down to him.

If the man breaks the engagement? I would keep the ring. If I break the engagement? It is customary to return the ring--etiquette would dictate so.
