The thing is families aren't as close as they used to be. That makes it more likely that people don't even know their own family. Especially when you through in the women who don't know who their "baby-daddy" is. If a person doesn't know who their father is how can they ever be sure they're not dating their own brother or sister.
There's a funny song/joke in the Caribbean about this guy starts bringing girlfriends home. Each time he brought a girl home his father takes him asides and says "That girl is your sister but your mother don't know". After about 3 or 4 different girls, he gets fed up and tells his mother. His mother takes him aside and tells him "Your daddy ain't your daddy, but your daddy don't know!"
But I agree, if you are aware that someone is family, you shouldn't be with them in that situation. I don't know where you draw the line though, 3rd cousins or what.

I personally think getting with anyone you know shares a common ancestor with you is disgusting. I know many of my 3rd, 4th, and 5th cousins and the idea of getting with one....I don't even want to think about it. I do have one cousin who discovered her babies' daddy was a cousin of her's but they never stopped messin around and I used to tell her all the time how nasty that ish is. Now part of my family comes from a town in Arkansas where EVERYONE is said to be related and because most of the family I know who comes from there ain't wrapped tight I'm inclined to believe it.

It's also legal for first cousins to marry in New Jersey. But who would want to marry their cousin?? I don't even want to be related to some of my cousins!

my 5th cousin is my Goddaughter so that's not flying in my family. we are extremely close and the idea of it grosses me out. there are enough ppl in the world now to step outside of your blood line.
