We recommended the "never go against the grain/one stroke" method too.

My technique.

1. Take hot shower to open pores.
2. Wet face.
3. Apply light oil to face.
4. Apply shaving cream with 100% boars hair brush.
5. Shave with one stroke...do not repeat on same area.
6. Rinse with cold water to close pores.
7. Repeat DAILY You have to do this every day.

The best way to get rid off bumps is to stop shaving! Wear a beard and leave your face alone. You'll feel much better!

hmm, i wonder what's the reason behind using cold water. cos i've read techniques online and they recommend using lukewarm water. kinda confusing.

I really dont know. Maybe to close the pores...I dont know. I know I will bump up slightly if I use warm water.

The reason I was told never to go against the grain (this is for those with skin irritation) is because it causes more trauma to the skin. You're more or less forcing the hair into a direction that is going to irritate the hair follicle. We never use a cold soak first. That goes against logic in my mind. Warm water softens which should make the hair easier to remove. I can see cold soak afterwards but not before. Like I said, I never heard of the cold water thing but that doesn't mean it's not credible.

I use something called "shave secret" before I shave and then use a "natural shave cream" not foam or gel and then I apply "Bump Patrol" after and it works good for me....
