YES We do, more than ANYONE Is willing to admit !
Everybody keep talking about "we're not a monolith people, we all have different views" and all of that other individualistic BS.
The bottom line is, Afro-Americans are a Nationality of people forged together by history. We share a common culture, and common experience in this country, based on the alienation and persecution we suffered by being captive slaves in this country, forced immigrants. We did not intend to come to this country, but ironically we are the first indigenous formed cultural group in the modern United States of America. We have traits fused together by Indigenous American and European peoples too. But we are African by essence.
ANYONE Who would say that your mentality is simply a result of your Nationality would be silly. But it DOES have the most profound influence on the way you will view your world! In the sense that we are a people who history FORCED together we are Monolithic ! While being diverse at the same time.
Because we are born into this world seeing ourselves as our race, it WILL always grow to define your experience in this country; whether you want to admit it or not!
We are all a product of our history, and placing in this world. Heck, I wouldn't be here if some African wasn't kidnapped.
As a result of us having to see ourselves by our identities, Black Afro America, we come to rationalize our experiences in life accordingly. I think there are some that choose to identify with their Blackness like me. And there are others who chose not to identity with it , and in many cases dis identify with it such as people like Clarence Thomas. Either way, the consciously do so, no matter how unconscious of a decision they like to think they are.
Some people like to say they're "color Blind". Well in order to be "color blind" , you have to recognize that Color exist !
You can't have one without the other.
Yes we do suffer from Stockholm Syndrome, its that self hatred that lives within us that NO ONE Is willing to touch !
It is our insistence on sticking to a religion; Christianity or Islam.
Its Black men insisting to marry white women, and criticizing Black women for being loud, unattractive, etc.
Its Black women marrying White men also.
Its the Black intellectuals acting like they're our friends, all the while they're all married to White women and speaking about us in a condescending nature.
Its those Black celebrities that KEEP getting those damn nose jobs. What they hell is wrong with the way we are naturally ???
Self-Hatred and these image problems are frightening. Here at this day in age, we can overcome judging people based on looks, but no one wants to.
It's Black women keep getting these hair weaves, wigs, Platinum blond hair, etc... Making themselves look like clowns and caricatures of White women !
Its Black Men who make Black women feel like they are less that women if they don't have straight hair. Or less that women if they're dark skin.. Or less than women , if they just ain't white or some other race!
All of this shyt exist in our community, but no one is willing to discuss it. And move forward so we can stop this self-hatred.
Black people having low opinions of themselves is needed for Capitalism to prosper. Our self-destructive patterns is necessary for the White boss man in charge to keep his foot in our asses. We need to be the anti-intellectual clowns we are today, dependent on their welfare and food stamps, so that we don't pose a threat to the wickedness at the top. It is necessary for Blacks who have "made it" to see themselves better than the rest, because they're all chasing a materialistic dream. They need the nice cars, to make the Car companies richer! They need the nice homes, to pay higher property taxes to uncle Sam, with all the fixtures inside. All the expensive clothes, shoes, etc. All of this Bullshit makes the world go round for the capitalist. We have relegated our beautiful selves, to the amount of materialistic goods we can possess.
And at the root of it all, is our Stockholm Syndrome!

I'd not only say yes to this question but I'd also say it's not only American blacks doing this. Look at Rwanda. White massa tells one group they are superior because they are lighter and instead of seeing the real enemy they turn on each other, Tutsi killing Hutu. That's the same and house and field slave, Willie Lynch. The two needed to get together and put some poison in massa's dinner instead of killing each other while massa laughs. They got alot of black minds. I've seen blacks calling each other oreo's, Uncle Tom's and jiggaboos. We're all the same to the white racist regardless of what he says to our face. While we separate ourselves using the brown paper bag test, he laughing. While we say so and so isn't "black enough", he's laughing. While we're killing each other for his scraps, he's laughing. We need to get together and make him cry.

Perhaps your friends feel this way about themselves. I don't know of any.

American Africans do suffer from a far worse form of "Stockholm Syndrome." However, when the psychological effects of slavery, jim crow, and continued institutional discrimination are studied in-depth nationwide by federal mandate, a new scientific term will surface. This is one of the issues that H.R. 40 bill created by Representative John Conyers (D-MI) aims to establish. The condition of American Africans in this nation after nearly 400 years of de jure and de facto discrimination is a syndrome and mental illness still un-studied. In fact, there is a film starring Danny Glover that deals with this issue called MANDERLAY. You all should watch this film ASAP.

Yes, black folks are suffering from stockholm syndrome.
I wonder what's the best tmt for this psychological disorder. I read somewhere that they should not be pressured by family members. So, I guess the Drop Squad was not such a good idea.
