Jesse Jackson calls Owens suspension ``much too severe''

Say What?

Jesse, why are you even speaking on this?

I think JJ is overstepping his bounds here. He obviously lacks the understanding of the NFL and it's policies, not to mention what a contract means.

Please don't make this a political issue! Ain't this about one man that is bitter about a contract signing (his signature), and wants to victomize a team after the fact, with only a year of his 49million dollar deal underway.

Please!

Why does Jesse Jackson always have something to say?

If you are hurting the morale of the team, yes you should be put on suspension or assigned to another area. In my work days, I yanked people off a team in a heartbeat if they were causing dissension.

Should I be fired or put on leave for that? I don't think so, The Philadelphia Organization in my opinion made a big fuss about nothing and acting like a bunch of cry babies.

BTW, Go Carolina Panthers!
Uh, he did make blatantly flagrant remarks such as:

  1. Telling his coaches not to speak to him unless spoken to.
  2. disobeying team rules repeatedly.
  3. Disrespecting members of his team on and off the air.
  4. Multiple occasions of undermining Donovan Mcnabb publicly.
  5. Dissing Mcnabb for an over the hill crackah Quarterback; Stating that if the Eagles had Brett Favre they would be undefeated.
  6. Faking injuries
  7. Holding out, missing practice.
  8. Barely After a year, renigging on a contract HE SIGNED!
  9. Oh, did I mentioned he pulled much of the same bullshiddy in SanFran?
You-one who has always been in support of strong positive black men; I am very suprised you find his conduct acceptable. T.O. is acting like a real hoe right about now, and HE is the reason that HE is losing money.

The Eagles never criticized him publically, yet over and over, T.O. airs his business out in public. How many other Eagles players, no better yet, NFL players do you see hating on their teammates and bitching to the public as if we write his check?

He apologized AFTER the fact, when he was aware of what was to come down, then tried to apologize AFTER Philly suspended. Too late to be a man then.

And for your comparison with incidents of other NFL athletes; those incidents were one time. With T.O. its' a NEW issue almost EVERY week. If I want to watch a soap opera, I'll sit down with my wife and enjoy one with her. Sports and Soaps don't mix well.

The only one that's been crying OUT LOUD is T.O>

....A mind is a terrible thing to waste=T.O.

8 game suspension is way too long.Jesse Jackson felt motivated&last I checked it seems like nobody else is speaking out in T.O's Defense.Dion sanders gave T.O. dap.I feel that T.O. is being railroaded big time.cats get busted with steriods,&other off field offenses without getting half the hate&maddness that is geared toward T.O. Kobe Bryant ain't even caught half the tension that T.O. got.Kobe didn't even get suspended or fined.matter of fact he got a even bigger contract.

Bill Romonaski didn't catch half the hate that T.O. has encountered. dude spit in the face of a Player on National tv. Beat up a fellow Teammate, used Racial Slurs&admitted to injecting.double standards on so many things.T.O. shouldn't have gotten more than a Game tops.this is a Mess.

Out of all these athletes and their situations you mention, you leave out a glaring difference; T.O. was divisive against his OWN TEAMMates over and over and over and over. You mean to tell me, that Philly should have ignored that and looked the other way? Just take a look of what the T.O. aftermath has brought the Eagles?

To say he should get a one game suspension tops is ridiculous. You are ignoring the fact that; HIS TEAMMATES DON'T WANT TO PLAY WITH HIM.

Yes, Romanowski got away with what he did. So does that mean T.O. should to make it fair? Go back and read the timeline, starting with SanFrancisco. T.O.'s ******** has harmed two pro teams over a 3 year period. You know any other pro athlete how has done that? And with all his rotten baggage, he still got a 7yr/49 Million dollar contract? How many of us can go from job to job, cause nothing but discord and drama and get a multimillion dollar contract?

Just becaue someone is my brotha or sistah, don't mean I can't look at the truth for what it is. If T.O. was a member of a civil rights group, in just a year, it would be in shambles. He is a destroyer of cohesion. The more we defend cats like him, the more we sanction and support his self-fullfilling, selfish and destructive conduct.

Why do you think virtually NO other NFL athlete (except Michael "pushoff" Irving) will publically support him? And why do you think no one seems to be excited about bringing him on their team? When your own brothas don't want you in their locker room, that says enough.

If it were my team, I'd pay him for the rest of the year, and let him sit the bench. I would make him suit up, attend practice catching passes for the third string quarterback and bench him every Sunday. Every time he pulled some of his crap, I'd make a note of it, and sanction his salary. You know he did sign a contingency in his contract that deals with him doing things "detrimental to the team". Is that soemone elses fault that he is dishonoring his own contract he signe with the Eagles?

This fool is so into himself, he's got a bronze statue of himself in the lobby of his Atlanta home.

Deion Sanders supports Him. Members of the san Francisco 49ers still support him.there are cats on the Eagles that are with Him. nobody can say what He did to merit a 8 game suspension&all that tie in stuff from his days with the 49ers somehow justifys this suspension? come on now.the eagles were wrong for not handling things back in the summer&also for being cheap. ain't no contract guarented in the NFl.aside from your Bonus everything else can be flipped. if you want to win you can ignore things.Mcnabb is hurt&has been Hurt period. there defense stinks. T.O. in less than two years had 20 touchdowns&almost 2,000 yards of recieving. Kobe Bryant was a Big distraction for the Lakers&still is.but He sells jerseys. dude ran off Shaq&Phil jackson, dude said foul stuff about Karl Malone who happen to be one of the few people to be-friend Kobe back when nobody else wanted to touch Him. Chucky Atkins said Publicly that Kobe called the shots.chucky got traded to Washington. Lamar Odoms can't function playing with dude.Kobe put Shaq's Personal Business out there at a Police station&shaq had to stay Mum for a whole year on the subject&to this day Shaq ain't even trying to talk about no Kobe.the Lakers are Horrible as we speak.T.O. ain't never pulled no mess like what Kobe Bryant did. also the NBA never imposed a Behavior suspension on Kobe Bryant for the Charge.

BTW - i think he is gay.
he got that down low look in his eyes and all the drama? the narcissism?

i think that is his real issue.

if Owens had worked it and turned the fans on in Philly he could have been paid whatever.
he made the choice to turn us off instead.
