Post Deion Sanders Rips Kobe For Taking Malone Feud Public

http://msn.foxsports.com/story?conte...048&print=true

Deion rips Kobe for taking Malone feud public
Deion Sanders has never been afraid to speak out, even if it's not about his sport, and he's taken aim at Kobe Bryant for "breaking every rule you could think of" as a player. .

Over the weekend, Kobe made statements that Karl Malone made a pass at his wife, Vanessa, and that was at the root of the recent Malone-Bryant rift that included Malone saying he would never play with the Lakers as long as Kobe was there.

But by taking this private spat public, Bryant really crossed the line, Sanders said.

"Kobe has broken all rules in regards to players' camaraderie, their fraternity," Sanders said on Sporting News Radio's James Brown Show. "He has broken every rule you could think of. I don't even understand how someone could come in the locker room and look this guy in his face when you go out like that.

"Not only is your house not in order because of the situation that he went through with the infidelity last year, but now you're placing Karl Malone in a position where now his home is under subjection right now because of these allegations. It's unbelievable. I can't even believe they would even allow that to come out in the media to attack Karl like that."

Sanders' comments are the latest in an ever-growing list of players who are lining up to take shots at Bryant. In addition to the recent falling out with Malone, Shaquille O'Neal still rips into Bryant whenever possible after Bryant played a key role in getting O'Neal traded to Miami, and the Sonics' Ray Allen ripped into Bryant as "selfish" earlier this season.

The recent Malone-Bryant feud boiled over when Vanessa Bryant told her husband on Nov. 23 that Malone had made inappropriate comments to her that night at the game at Staples Center.

The comments in question reportedly happened after Vanessa invited Malone to sit with her in the second half of that game. Malone, decked out in a cowboy hat and boots, went over and gave Vanessa Bryant a hug.

"Who are you hunting?" Vanessa reportedly asked when she saw Malone's outfit.

"Little Mexican girls," Malone responded.

And when that comment was relayed to Kobe, he called Malone and reportedly vowed to "(mess) him up" if he ever went near his wife again.

"Karl is a proven veteran. He's an older gentleman. What does he want with your woman?" Sanders said. "I mean, come on, let's be honest. What does Karl want with your woman? Karl has a daughter as old as Kobe's wife. So, let's be honest, that was really ridiculous.

"You've got to understand, guys like myself inside locker rooms, we get so upset when we hear foolishness like that in something coming out of Kobe's mouth. We just can't condone it. He's broken every rule or ordinance you can think of as a player."

But Sanders also had some rants on the sport he does play, football, particularly on Giants' rookie quarterback Eli Manning after Sanders' Ravens destroyed the Giants on Sunday.

"It's just horrible over there, the atmosphere, and you could feel it on the field," Sanders said of the Giants, who haven't won a game since Manning was named the starter. "It translates to that. It was almost like you're playing against a team that couldn't wait until the season was over.

"It was so bad, that literally on a timeout, I went over and summoned him (Eli Manning) up when they removed him from the game. I said, 'Young fella, keep your head up, man. You're going to be a star in this game. Just keep your head up.' But I could see that it lifted his spirits up a bit because the game was just horrendous. I mean, the play-calling, the offense is so predictable; guys are getting battered every day; they're getting fined for wearing a hat to practice, you know."

That's funny. Since When is Deion the voice of morality or the athlete's 'code of conduct'?
Let's see......, he thinks it's wrong for Kobe to speak out publically about Malone disrespecting his wife and marriage, but he doesn't see anything wrong with commenting on something that is none of his business.
A man's wife is his business, his concern. While I don't agree with Kobe going public with his drama, that's still his decision. I don't see why Kobe 'owes' Malone any respect, especially when Malone is the one that cross the line.

Out of all the women out there, and you gotta hit on another BBall players woman. Ok Deion, where's your outrage there?

Deion should STFU, and focus on being the best defensive back he can be right now, because the Ravens need alot less mouth from him and a lot more action.

I say people just leave Kobe alone, and let the brotha try to put his life back together.

Notiq, I feel you on all that you are saying. But uh, no matter how trife they both may be, they are still married, and for Deion to comment on whether or not another man has a right to beef with another man over disrespecting his marriage, he's trippin.

Whether Kobe is a good guy or not is not even part of the issue. It's his marriage, his wife, his family, so we shouldn't be telling him what to do with his feelings about his family. Separate your like or dislike of Kobe from the issue, and you'll see what I'm saying here.

And as I said earlier, and you didn't respond to....."where's Deion's criticism of Malone?" Is there also an NBA creed on how to treat each other's wives and family? Deion is once agian doing what he does best, which is run his mouth. Too bad his game on the field does not match his mouth, cause the Ravens would have a much better chance at the Playoffs!

Question

^^Not trying to come at you wrong dawg, but when you say Deion hasn't been playing good for the Ravens, it kind of baffles me because the dude has three interceptions and ran one back for a TD. He is their nickel corner, and he has been hurt for a few games but he still has more interceptions than Chris McAlister (supposedly the Ravens best cornerback that just signed a big fat contract extension in the offseason). Deion has been holding his own at the nickel position, so I don't see how you think he is sucking it up when he has been playing good IMO. Unless you expect him to have the same kind of impact that Ed Reed is having, if thats your point well I think your expectations is way too high because Ed Reed is a whole lot younger and way more physically active than Deion right now.

^^Here's Deion's stats if it matters.

You focusing totally on a side comment I made about Deion without even remotely responding to the subject of the thread.

Hate to get off topic, but I never said he sucked. I never said he was doing poorly. And although his 3 interceptions are excellent, We know in football, the defensive front creates interceptions and the secondary creates sacks. He is holding his own at the nickel position, the sanctuary for semi-effective defensive backs. In others words he's the deep back, and not a lock-down corner that he used to be, so that's why Chris McAlister get's the big bucks, because Chris Mc is the future. Deion is simply a temporary bandaid that the Ravens need.
Point is Deion is doing ok. But in football, individual stats don't mean squat if the team is struggling, and the Ravens are still struggling.

All I was trying to say is that perhaps, just maybe if Deion would spend more time improving his physical conditioning (to reduce his brittleness), and onfield skills, rather than being up in another man's marital affairs, then he would be much closer to the old Deion.

Would you not agree?

Whether Deon is the voice of morality doesn't matter. His complaint seems to be with how Kobe handled all this. All that just provides a distraction for the team which is way beyond what players are disrespecting each other. If Kobe was so concerned with piecing his life back together, he'd shut his mouth and handle his business.

i'm at a complete loss

was avoiding talking about Kobe (again) and his problems (still, dayum). And right now I'm probably going to sound like a raving mad woman, but this needs to be said, because I see this on the other message board I belong to, and it irritates me there too....

WHY ARE FOLKS ALWAYS ARGUING THE WRONG POINT.

I ask this because it's maddening. Here dblack pointed out that he can't understand why deion (who've i got major issues with anyway, since he's not the administrator of the black athlete moral code). But I agree, since when can someone come up and disrespect someone. The point is that the remark was offensive...Doesn't matter that it was said to Vanessa Bryant who happens to be Mexican. If she was just any other mexican girl this wouldn't be an issue, only because it's Kobe's wife. The remark was offensive, no bigotted, and he should be called out on it. This isn't the first time mr. malone has said something that shows his true colors and how he really thinks. I think all those years smelling that mountain air in SLC really affected this mains thinking. But then again, most pro athletes have a different sense of what they feel that they are entitled to do and say.

The whole thing is ridiculously sad.

I think once again Mr Bryant has put his business in the street ... Now Karl may be in the wrong ... ok we have pretty much assumed we have though we have only heard Kobe 's side of the story ...and I am sure that is the only side we will hear ...but cmon you dont have to tell everybody ya damn business ... ya know what I am saying keep that sh!t in house so that people cant and wont have an opinion ... the man already has a big mouth ... and he fronts on everybody his current team his old coach , everybody ... and if he caught up then everybody caught up ....he really needs to put his house in order play team ball and shut up .... but hey that is just my personal take on Mr Bryant

Thank you Slick for clearling that up.

The focus of this drama is on everyone else accept Malone for disrespecting Kobe's marriage in the first place, and Deion for speaking out on Kobe's speaking our about something that's Kobe's business, and not Deion.

Even in this thread, the majority of comments focus on the Kobe, as if Kobe made Malone disrespect him. As if Kobe asked Deion to comment on Kobe's marriage and comments. Yeah, Kobe does have a lot of issues, but why are we giving Malone and Deion a pass on this?

Don't understand.
