Iverson, Wallace and others will dress as there coach/NBA deem appropriate. They ain't going no where. I think maturity and rationality wins out. Think about it, you would be just disingenuous to stop working making all that money over a dress code. Come on now. They have mouths to feed.

Ok Cuban is an exception, but how does the rest of the league dress? Isiah Thomas, Pat Riley...so on and so on. They dress for success. Even Jordan in his little stint as the Wizards President of Operations dressed appropriately.

You are missing the big picture here. Its not about race, it is about money. If something does not change then everyone loses. Its like that in every aspect of every business. If something is attributed to money loss, then you change it for the survival of your establishment. And those that want to be petty about a dress code can look for work elsewhere. LETS SEE IF IVERSON LOOKS FOR WORK ELSEWHERE.

I'll pose it to you this way....All I hear the brotha's doing is cashing their checks. The point is it's a job!!!! J O FREAKING B. Rasheed's attitude would get him fired in the world where every day citizens live. Iverson's too. The point is they are coddled, spoiled, overpaid, adolescent males living out a fantasy that so many of us can't even comprehend, and they want us to feel sorry for them????? NOPE, sorry.

You want to argue the race issue, then let Shaq, buy out his owners instead of buying that multimillion dollar house in Miami and sending his kids to private school, and buying all that bling for his wife. All the money these black players make playing ball, they could buy the league over and still be able to pay their salaries.

Money....Money....They're so busy listening to the Kaching of their check, that they've lost touch with any and all reality. Not to mention all they ever do is try to make the best play so they can be the highlight on sports center. Their overall skills are laughable, Shaq still can't through free throws. And as for Larry Bird, he's still one of the best players to ever play the game, I don't care if he's a white boy. That's just respect for the game, same for Steve Nash, because at the end of the day, they let their game speak for them. And each one of them combined make/made less than Shaq ever will just doing burger king commercials.

Money.....Money.....Money

This is just to to typical of my black brethren, blame the person who's basically enriched you materially for the problems you're having. I'm sorry, these negros don't live in the hood, so why are they trying to act like they are. Who are we kidding here, if you want to play the race card, play it like it should be played - the average black family can't even afford to go to a game anymore. White families do. They're kids are the ones wearing the throwbacks, wearing the baggy jeans. I betcha Rasheed's kid doesn't dress like Rasheed? I bet you Allen's kids don't dress like they're from the hood....why -----BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO. Daddy makes millions.

Allen wants to say something about a dress code - buy the team.
Rasheed wants to say something about a dress code - buy the team.
I don't see Kobe Bryant (and I hate to have to use him as an example) dressing like them off the court, do you? You don't see Ray Allen acting like this? You never saw Michael Jordan do it, Magic, Kareem, Dr. J, Mo Cheeks, Wilt, the list goes on and on......

Money....money.....money.....money.....
And the advertisers cater to them as well. Want to stop seeing and hearing about the negative press when a black celeb gets dropped - stop buying the product.....

I could go on and on about how basketball and it's players are ruining the game, but you should by now get the point. This is their job...It doesn't matter that they don't work at Microsoft. People know who they are, you see them on the street, and I've honestly never had a problem with the professional athletes I met, but then again, I'm not trying to get something from them. But that's another issue. They are employees of the NBA and because their EMPLOYER wants to institute a dress code, so be it.

THAT'S NOT RACISTS....THAT'S HOW IT IS IN THE REAL WORLD, WHERE REAL PEOPLE, WITH REAL ISSUES AND REAL BILLS LIVE.

Welcome to it.

All employers have a dress code, period. It started with those daggum baggy shorts which are so baggy now they look like pants, to tats and cornrows. While there is nothing wrong with that, it does go to the whole issue that we were talking about in the Oprah and Luda thread. Appearances matter. Plain and simple.

As a supervisor I can honestly tell you that how you dress for your job directly relates to how well you do your job. It's called self respect, work ethic, esteem. I'm actually really quite sick and tired of these over paid ego maniacs thinking that the sun rises and sets with their issues. They make millions and still complain about something.....to me that's petty. The every day people I work with complain about their dress code and where I work it's pretty lax - and I've had to send people home who thought they could come to work in their pajamas....HAIL NO-----PERIOD. If you want a job where you can wear your pajamas to work, then you better try self employment. If you look sloppy you will not care about the work you do, and in my experiences, sloppy dresses tend to be negative as well as more concerned about themselves and collecting their check than doing their job that they were hired to do.

What's even funnier (not ha ha funny, but sad funny) is that this isn't a black thing, and has nothing to do with whether Steve Nash deserves the NBA MVP award (which he did - Shaq needs to have one injury free season in his career and be consistently do his job day in and day out and not expect that it will just happen because he's SHAQ), it has to do with your employers expectation of what they want to see. Stern, for all his stupidity, is correct. But it doesn't matter if Bill Cosby, or Stern says it. Heck, my daddy's been sayin it for the past twenty and no one criticizes him, but I guess that's because he's old school. Either way, it's not a black and white thing...It's a real thing....

I'm with you bro on this one ... it ain't about race, its about image and money and all them folks who are complaining about the dress code on here would wear the shirt and tie and jacket to get the millions of dollars in pay , just like the players will, and complain all the way to the bank!!!

NBA's New Dress Code

What do you think of the NBA's new dress code?

Which look do you prefer: hats and jewelry or business casual? The NBA has decided it likes the second choice, and has a new policy to make sure that's what its players wear. The league says it's all about projecting a professional image. But, some players think it's out of line, over the top -- even racist. Do you? Read Story

What u wear on the court is one thing, but if no game is going on why in hell are they telling these grown men what to wear? I mean I would find it corny to see everyone sporting a suit...it's not for everyone. Somebody had too much time on their hands.

get schooled on some NBA Dress.Wilt&Russell wore Pendents back in the day with there suits.Walt Clyde Frazier was Superfly. cats had there own style.if there was a problem then David Stern should have laid down the ground work a decade ago.when Tim Duncan is saying the League rule is Messed up then you know it's messed up.Duncan is One of the Coolest low Key clean cats in the League&He will tell you what is up. Shaq s a Class Act FYI. 3 Rings&MVP's,All Star etc... Shaq is My Favorite Player so please don't get me going on shaq.20 years ago Michael Jordan went to the all-Star game rocking as much Bling around his Neck as Lebron James. lets be real:if the Brothers all put there Money together where would they play? ABA did this already&the NBA Bought them out. anybody with half way of a Brain function know this is Messed up.Mark cuban didn't say Racist, but He did call the NBA Stupid&thought this was plain Dumb.the NBA just got through using Players for Katrina Ads&now they gonna Pulll this crap?? you don't know much about Black folks.Iverson is tough minded. He has long ago beaten the Odds.same with Rashaad Wallace.the NBA wants to maintain a Plantation mentality.a bunch of Bigots who want to judge People on the outside as to what is on the Inside.throws the Mic Down.

I agree Mister Maxx. They are bigots who want to judge whats on the outside. If they start a new league though it would get shut down quickly or either bought out.

If you really think about it, wearing a suit to a sports event looks way out of place. The coaches would look better IMO if they wore Polo type shirts with casual pants. I think the NFL and MLB have the right idea when it comes to a dress code.

the NBA have Cats tied up with Endoresement deals&things. that is the Underline right there.back in the day when DR J,Georger Gervin, Moses Malone,David Thompson,Artis Gilmore&other Cats were playing in the ABA they didn't have all the string attachment that the current NBA has involved.but I got a feeling David Stern is gonna say the wrong thing sooner or later. something is gonna be explosive that flips the script.bad enough with the Age issue&now this.what is so scary: the NBA is considered the Best of the Major Sports when it comes to Providing Job chances for African-American players.but this is very Racist when 80% of the Players in the League are Black.some things are just self-Explanatory. Peace
