T.O. Still Salty about Eagles Contract

T.O. is griping and moaning still about his 49 million dollar contract with the Eagles. What a spoiled brat. Does he really think the Eagles need him that bad?

He should see that receives are nothing without good quarterbacks, and he would be alot more successful playing for the Eagles than the Carolina Panthers.

Rumor has it that Eagles may decide to trade him, and he may even end up a Falcon. I would love that.

You and me both. I would have to move over there then. Vick and T.O. live?

I'd have to see it live and uncut.

The reality of the issue is most of the $49 million Owens to set to receive is not guaranteed. The only money that is guarantee is the signing bonus. One or two years into this deal the Eagles can cut Owens not owing him a penny. Owens wants more money up front and you cant much blame him all the leverage is leaning to the eagles. Owens is just trying to get some of the leverage back in his favor.

I recently heard an agent say that N.F.L players shouldn’t sign long term deals instead they should opt for one to two years deals which would allow them to paid the maximum market value. To the fan nobody wants to see players jumping from team to team, but football is a business also.

Why don't they just pay all of the players the same money per position and then give bonuses based on performance during the season. A player have a big year, he get paid big, he flop, he don't get jack.

This was actually suggested before, but the players and player's union balked at it.

T.O's signing bonus is more than what most of us make working a 40 hr a week job in five years.

Godsoulja you stated, "Football is a business and T.O. is an investment" as I was thinking it's ridiculous to gurantee a NFL salary ($49 million), because career ending injuries are too prevelant. Also, any player that complains
about the fact that he's cut before his contract expires, then he obviously agrees that he's not even worth his salary.

However, T.O. wasn't forced to sign his contract, we all know when signing a contract either 1. negoiate while the deal is going on 2. read the fine print before signing. It appears T.O should read his contract carefully or had someone advise him better before he signed on the dotted line.

I understand he wants to get more money but do you have to throw temper tantrums. Even a 2 yr old knows tantrums gets you know where but ignored. Quit whining all over national TV and go to these people with a reasonable solution both parties can agree with.

TO and a whole bunch of other athletes don't abide by the old adage, "don't put your business in the street". He should have shut the "F" up and let his agent negotiate in private. He probably would have been more successful that way.
