N.B.A Entry Age
Do you think the N.B.A new collective bargining agreements rule that N.B.A players must be 19 years old and 1 year removed from college will have a negative effect on the N.B.A or college basketball?

I think it will help tremendously. I think the fact that the NBA kept drafting all these Babies is the reason why it's boring, pathetic, and has lost a lot of fans. NBA should be for men, not boys.
NFL has an age limit. I'm sure that's why the quality of NFL players has not deteroriated. NBA should do the same, or just close the league. It's a joke with all those kids playing.

I don't see how the age limit will effect the NBA. I do see it improving on the quality of play in College ball. I have watched b-ball for the last 37 years. I can't say that it is the young players as much as the college rules that are restricting the game so much, that coaches are getting players (not speaking of the superstars) that play according to those restrictive rules. The games are boring, with a bunch of non scorers.

If we can allow our kids to die for this country at 17, be tried as an adult as children, be allowed to vote at 18, be allowed to work at a dead end job, then clearly we should have no problems with a child blessed in talents incredible enought to compete with adults and make millions.
This is really about the white fanbase and thinktank that want to somehow curb the pervasive dominance of blacks athletes in the NBA.

I disagree I think the idea will allow the athelete atleast one year to make the decision to stay in college or go pro. I would always want my child to have a chance at an education first and a year to do that would help kids from making the biggest mistake of their lives

Waiting one year to enter the league will not do what the NBA wants it to do except increase the amount of non-african american players. This is affirmative action hands down.
Think about it like this they are not saying you have to go to college they are just saying you have to wait one year. Once you graduate from high school you have three months of summer or more before college if you go you go to school from september to early june of which time a basketball player misses many classes and study time due to practice scedules the season ends in may and waht have you really learned in your freshman year in college as a basketball star not only a basketball star but a garaunteed NBA first round draft pick.
Maybe they learn to count the days until they are filthy rich.

Hotep Beloved,
I thank you all for voicing your thoughts on this topic. My point is this if you had a chance to make millions right now would you wait a year to do it?
I also want to add that what if you go to college and you completely stink it up and your so-called pro potential slips a little bit? Even better then that what if you go to college and you tear up your leg, ankle, wrist or any of the above?
These kids are drafted based on their potential according to scouts, draft experts and the like. Everyone knows that black afrikans dominate the sport and this was just a move to push for more white guys to get into the league, but that’s not going to happen.
Ase’

What good is a young, dumb, can't stay out of trouble millionaire?
I would rather become a millionaire when I'm more spiritually and intellectually mature.

The $h!+ is racist, period.
If David Stern were as smart as he thinks he is he'd look at the best players in the league. Most of them are straight out of high school. Kobe, Amare, T-Mac, LeBron, Jermaine O'Neal...these are the guys that are making him richer. That's why I know it's not about them being too young, because we know NBA executives don't actually care about these guys outside of basketball. The bottom line is they are sick of black men dominating the league and would like to water it down a bit; get some more Euros in there. For every black guy that goes to college for one year (and wastes a year of his life) there will be about 10-20 Manus and Dirks coming over from Yugoslavia or somewhere. Keep in mind that this rule of theirs only applies to AMERICANS, not Euros.
They're on some ol' KKK $h!+. One year won't make a bit of difference in anyone's life regarding basketball.
And black people will still own whitey in sports, so I don't know what they're trying to prove.
